Hi all,

DD1's reactions were always really clear-cut to her allergens (she's only allergic to eggs now). DD2's reactions have been similarly obvious too.

DD2 in the past has reacted with:
sleep issues
cradle cap (dark yellow, thick)
eczema
red ring on bottom
diaper rash

ETA: In fact, even dairy in toiletries would cause eczema within a few hours (in MY body wash) - she was really sensitive to dairy as an infant)

She had these reactions to dairy, soy, legumes. We waited to introduce eggs 'til last month, she had no reactions to that at all (Hurray!).

We were due to check dairy next, so after a two week 'rest' we started dairy. She seems fine .... no vomiting, rash, etc. like her sister would have had. But .... there is a little cradle cap. Occasional rash on bottom (could just be longer in her diaper those times?) - occasional red ring (could be the same thing there?). No sleep issues; she does seem a bit more irritable. And she's having 3-4 diapers every day which have a small poop in them. TMI I know -- but it's like a medium-sized grape has been smashed and smeared. That's it. Today she also had a very, very firm bm which she hasn't had one that firm in months. So there may possibly be some constipation.

We are due to go see family for Easter and I know that every thing I'm wondering about will be pooh-poohed by them as paranoia. Especially since at this point I have not myself started back on dairy yet. I'm not ready to say this is a failed challenge ... it could just be that she's cutting her last two bottom molars, and a new food in her diet changing things up a little. But I'm not ready to say it's a PASS either, KWIM?

So, any perspective from BTDT Moms? I wish this was clear-cut. At this point we're thinking to just keep doing dairy, probably add it back to my diet, and see what happens. She's had it via baked goods, cheese, whipped cream, on cereal - probably the equivalent of two full servings of dairy/day, for the past two weeks. But I told dh that if she stays so mercurial/irritable, we may just cut dairy again for two weeks and see whether she improves....??

I think you could stop the dairy for 4-5 days and then give her some straight milk and watch for symptoms. She may be having a slow buildup of symptoms, so when you remove it and then reintroduce the subtle symptoms should be easier to spot.

My kids always change symptoms on reintroduction so I'd be wary of any change. If other things are going on at the same time though (like teething) I'd be wary of the reactions.
