I'm looking for some place to buy raw milk. I thought I would see if anyone on here knows of any family dairies that might be willing to part with some of their milk. I live in Battle Ground, WA and work in Portland, OR, so anything in those areas would be great.

Thank you!

I don't live that far south, and we don't drink raw milk so take that into consideration.

Here is a "Where Can I Find Raw Milk?" Website that lists dairy's by state:

http://www.realmilk.com/where2.html

Good luck!

Thanks, Kay. I have tried that site. The closest places to me are still over an hour away. I would like to try to use raw milk, but that seems like a bit more than I want to do.

My friend Victoria (aka Victorian here on MDC) was telling me about a place that you can actually "purchase" a "part" or "share" of a cow and then you can get some of their milk raw without the dairy having to not follow rules about not selling unpasteurized milk. I'll ask her about it again and get back to you.

Also, New Seasons and Trader Joe's have started selling raw goat's milk in the refrigerated section. It's a different flavor, but it is raw so you might consider that, too.

Actually, that's not the one I found. Apparently there's more than one in Skamokawa. I just may consider taking the drive out there sometime. It doesn't seem like there's anything closer.

where is that? Maybe we could get a group of people together to do this? If we had maybe 4-8 people we could take turns driving to pick up the milk/butter/eggs whatever they have. Maybe the order would have to be standing someones paypal account that all the money could be deposited into in advance so that if you don't pay for the week no one gets stuck with the goods/out the money. Then we could have a central location that we all meet at to distribute the food?

That sounds like a great idea. I'm not exactly sure where it is, but I can look at a map tomorrow. I'm way too sleepy to do it now.

I found another lead. Have you been to Peoples Food-Co-Op? Well I called them and they told me that it was against the law to buy/sell raw milk in Oregon (why the sell shares in a cow to get around that law). BUT, he did know of a person that delivers raw milk/eggs/butter in Portland for "dogs" (which is not against the law). He was going to try and find his name/number since my "dogs" might like to have some farm fresh food.

So, I have some insider information for you guys - I have heard that very soon, Peoples and another store - I am not quite sure of the other store right now - will be carrying Raw Milk labeled - for use by dogs and cats. I think this will happen fairly soon, like within a month or two, and I will gladly let you guys know when it starts. Victorian is totally right - it is illegal in Oregon. As for Washington, I am not sure. I will post a link to the company that owns the cows as soon as I can remember their name.

I get my raw milk from Lonnie at [email protected]. They do a portland drop in NE on Sat. and one in Vancouver @ 7719 NE 159th. Yes, by law you do have to purchase a share of the cow (which I am pretty sure is refundable) then a gallon of milk is $5 + bottle deposits. We have been getting their milk for just a month now but are very happy with it.
