DD2 was 1 last week and is so distracted by her older siblings and wanting to do everything they are doing that she barely nurses during the day unless she is really tired and we are in a place that is completely quiet, but even then she will fall asleep pretty quickly and not get much of a let down. Her nursing session in the morning, first thing, is the best of the day.

Anyone else encountering this? I feel like it happened later with my older kids. Maybe because it was that much less crazy around!

If so, how are you compensating for the missed nursing sessions during the day? DD2 sleeps 12 hours at night and has for a long time, so there is no night nursing. Want to make sure she is getting enough! Seems find, but poops are VERY solid, tiny little ones.

About the time my baby girl turned 1, she stopped nursing most of the time. She eats solid food and lots of it, and was more interested in the food and the "big people drinks" (mostly water) than the milk. She 14 months now and still nurses in the evening when she's winding down and for a fairly extended session when she's still half-asleep in the morning before I go to work, but she almost never nurses during the daytime or early evening any more. She does get water and whole milk on demand in a sippy cup, and frequently has a smoothie during the day, so hydration is not an issue.
