I know vaccinations are a very hot topic and I respect that everyone has to make a decision that is right for them. I believe that I want to follow a delayed/selective vaccination schedule for our baby as I don't believe it is healthy for her little developing body to receive so many vaccinations in the beginning of her life. My current concern is how this works with daycare. Our daughter will be going into daycare just shy of six months old give or take a week. I do not plan on having the 11-12 shots required per the state. Does anyone have any experience in this situation and how did you work around this?

I would also love recommendations of pediatricians in the maplewood/south orange area who respects a parents opinion. I plan on meeting with dr cotler but I would like a few others to compare to.

NJ has mandated vaccines for daycare. I think that the only way select/delayed would work is if you had a medical exemption to support an alternate schedule/list, or a religious exemption and vaxed "under the table," which may require doing it out of state depending on how NJ tracks vaccines given.

My LO was in a daycare several years ago while we did a selective vaccination schedule. I just wrote a note:

"My child, XXXXXX, will be selectively vaccinated. She will not be receiving vaccinations that conflict with the tenants of our religious faith, particularly those vaccines which are derived from procedures that we find morally unacceptable or that may encourage sexual promiscuity. "

Our daycare had a lot of kids there whose parents were on assistance so I know the state watched them closely and it never became and issue. I have since switched my LO into a home daycare and it hasn't been an issue there.
