Does anyone know anything about "Children's Workshop" on Winter Street in Waltham, or "Little Souls" on Fifth Ave in Waltham? Or any other daycare center in the Waltham/Lexington area that you would recommend?

I just got a new job in that area and need to find a new place to take my kids. I don't have much time at all for looking around so I'm starting to really stress out about it....

Thanks in advance!

My son went to the Children's Workshop for a short time, maybe a couple of months?

I worked in the area for 2 years at a battered women's shelter and the kids who lived there were welcomed there for free if there was space on a given day when we needed it. It was a nice, safe place for the kids to go when mom had a doctor's appt, etc. It was a generous offer on her part to welcome the kids so freely.

That said, don't get the impression that a half a donzen kids are coming and going a week or there, in terms of continuity of a peer group when your child is going there. I am talking about a kid here or there who would go a half a day once or twice a week when we at the shelter were not able to provide child care.

Not bad for a fancy, corporate child care center, KWIM?

Sooooo, when I left the shelter to have my baby and needed a short term arrangement for just a couple of half days for a couple of months, I called them. They were great. I think my son was 9 months or so and was used to nursing/me laying down with him to sleep. They fed him a pumped bottle and rocked him to sleep. It worked for us!
