My dd is almost 10 mos. old and she has a hard lump of some kind on the roof of her mouth.
I'm assuming this isn't normal--does anyone know anything about this, or what it could be?? Your help/advice will be appreciated.

Jamie, this may not help you at all but...

I, too, have a hard bump on the roof of my mouth. It is part of the hard palate right before the soft palate. As a child, I always thought it was normal. I never knew any better until I went to a new dentist as an adult and was asked about it.

I will tell you that I do not know what caused it or why it is there. But, it has never been a problem for me either. It's just there.

Now, this may not be the same thing as your DD, but if it is, I wanted you to know that I've never had a problem.

SeanaRain- Thank you for your post! This gives me some peace of mind
That's exactly where her lump is located, too. It feels like bone, just like the rest of the palate. Weird
It's funny, I noticed it months ago, and asked my husband to look in her mouth and tell me what it was, he goes "oh-that's normal" so I brushed it off ..fast forward a few months... last week he said "Have you noticed that bump on the roof of her mouth? That's really weird. You need to check into that! "
LOL So, of course, now I'm worried, thinking she's deformed, it may affect her speech, may have to have it removed, blah blah blah...all the "worries" I can come up with, KWIM? Your post helped me relax a bit- thanks!!

I have it too! Never gives me trouble except once in awhile it gets sore when I have a sore throat or sinus infection. It just is sensative to food passing it but not very painful or anything. I'm guessing it's normal
. I never really checked to see if any of my kids have it also.
