I should probably also post this in the bfing forum and the toddler forum. But here goes. My dd, she is 2.5, has sort of "forgotten" to nurse. My milk was gone for about 2 months with this pregnancy before my colostrum came in. Now, she wants to nurse a lot, but is not getting a good latch anymore. She is nursing on the nipple, and it hurts. What I have tried to do is tell her to use a "big mouth" and eat the whole nummie, not just the nummie ball (what she calls my nipples). Sometimes she does it, sometimes not. A lot of the time, I notice that she is pursing her lips tightly instead of relaxing them. It is NOT very comfortable for me.<br>
Has anyone else had this experience? Is there another way to teach her how to nurse again? I know all the little infant tricks, but with a toddler, it's a matter of verbal communication, and I don't know if I am doing it effectively. Does anyone have any suggestions? Help save my boobs!!!
