The absolute best warm comfy tights are at Hanna Anderson (the catalogue) and yes they seem very expensive, but are so tough that you will be handing them down after a couple yrs use. They actually end up much cheaper. The "loose tights" and patterned tights are warm & look good. My 2 dds are rough on clothes & very active and they have yet to ruin a pr of these whereas the store brands often run, get holes etc after a couple wearings. To save money get them at the outlet in Southtown, as hand me downs, on the overstocks section in catalogue or on their website under "clearance".

Next best, Lands End. They will run eventually but last longer than most. Go to the website for sales and also call & request the overstocks catalogue if you don't already get it, best deals are there.

Finally, Old Navy has some cute tights and are cheap. Not as high quality, but better than most.

I agree on the Hanna tights.
I also swear by Oilily tights, but they are big $$$$.
But worth it in the sense that they NEVER run or wear out.
I have a pair that was worn by two girls, then handed down to us, and Charlotte wore them for 2 years, and I will be saving them for Lucy. They are faded a bit, and a little pilly, but actually look decent still!
Gotta love those European cotton tights!

Just had to comment on a funny tights comment made by a parent of one of my former students...

"I wish they made those Hanna tights in my size, but can ya just see it? ...The stripes just get larger and LarGer and LARGER as they journey up the thighs!"

They were my thoughts exactly.
