Other mamas who are having one of those 'surprise' babies, do you have 'vibes' one way or the other? I literally go back and forth depending on the day, and everyone I know does too. I'm going to be shocked and surprised either way! :LOL

Stringbean-I kwym about worrying about the baby not moving. Yesterday mine did not move like usual. I still have not felt much this morning. Dh said "oh, are we going through this again?" meaning that now I would worry needlessly like the last time. He just doesn't get that it is an important thing to monitor. He was busy watching 60 minutes and didn't have much time for it either. He did go get the flashlight and shine it on my belly until the baby moved a bit. He was satisfied and pretty much dismissed it. I am glad to hears yours is moving actively again. If I don't feel more than the small movements by later this morning I am calling my MW.

Cholderby-good luck on your exam. On the energy bar issue there are tons out there and many are good for you. The main drawback is most of them have quite a bit of sugar. To avoid the sugar you end up w/ the low carb type which are more fake foodish. I like the Clif Bars and Luna Bars. They are more real food and actually have a lot of nutritional value. To keep my protein up I actually eat an energy bar every day. As for the PB&J I think that is a great idea. Use the natural Pb and all fruit jelly and sugar should not be too much of an issue. Maybe cheese and crackers?

I'm doing good. My MIL (means well but usually does/says the wrong thing) sent me a cheque to go mat shopping so I've got nice new clothes to wear. She's normally not the type to do that so it was a doubly nice surprise. I put on too much weight last month (almost 10 pounds) so am re-evaluating the diet, looking for ways to cut out the sugar although first ds was just a big baby. Not fair when I'm just starting my holiday baking. Ds is very excited about the new baby, we read the Sears baby on the way book everyday and he spends a lot of time singing to the baby.

I'm doing ok physically, mentally is another story. :LOL Seeing the midwife tommorrow. Back from my recent trip to nyc. While I was there, had a "surprise" shower thrown for me. I found out about it and was angry at first. Don't really like the spotlight to be on me. Got over it though and managed to enjoy myself somewhat. Everyone was quite generous though and I appreciate that.

My Vibe- it is a BOY all the way!

I have had a ton of boy dreams and with DD I only had girl dreams. Also, my mom and my MIL were both right last time and they both say boy this time.

With Rainey I wanted a boy so bad, but this time I really dont care, I would love for her to have a sister- I have a sister and it is kinda special, but then again I would love to have a boy too. So either way it is fine with me.

I have been cleaning baby clothes of Raineys to get ready for this baby and I have so many cute pink clothes I will be sad not to use them for the next baby if it is a boy- I mean real cute stuff- but then again this baby will have its own cute stuff if it is a boy or a girl. I have been trying to make diapers that would go either way- but it is so hard, having a girl for 20 months and no boy sure give you a lot of pink fabric! lol... So- needless to say this baby if it is a boy may be wearing pink a lot!

Still in lots of pain, but another mama gave me a great link to the possable cause. So at least I feel like I am not making it all up and there is something I can do about the pain.

I must run, Rainey is all over me- and I cant type anymore!
Besides my pelvis is hurting and I should lay down- but I dont know if that will make me feel better or not.

Hugs mama- we are getting close!

No vibe for me either way. Up until recently I really thought it was a boy and I got used to the idea. Now I think it is a girl and am sad that ds might not have a brother. I really truly don't care as I will be so happy either way. I guess it is just those pregnancy hormones getting to me sometimes. Ds wants a sister, so maybe he will get what he wants. I am not making much sense am I
I am going to see the midwife tomorrow as I have not felt the baby moving as much the last day and a half. Of course tonight I feel more movement. She had me do kick counts and I did feel at least 10 movements in an hour, just not as strong as they used to be. She said it is normal to feel less movement now, so I am a bit relieved. I was pretty stressed about it today. How is everyone else feeling with the movement? Also, for the life of me I can't tell what part is what on this baby. Anyone else not able to feel the position with their hands?

I can't feel what is where with my hands. And I don't think there's any sort of settling into one position - this baby is everywhere, from inches above my bellybutton to right down in my crotch...can't wait for those rib kicks .

I have my first appt. in 6 weeks on Thurs and am interested to see how much weight I've gained. I was walking around the Mall of America today and stopped in Old Navy to try on sale maternity clothes and was mortified to see that my belly was nearly showing - the elastic band of my jeans is right under my belly and my shirt was just hanging like an inch away . How embarrasing! Everything else seems to be pretty much the same (well, my butt's bigger, and my boobs are up a cup size), but this belly is out of control. It's already bigger than the pic I posted a few days ago!

I'm glad to hear that the other mamas are doing well. Bubbles, I hope your babe starts to reassure you with some power kicks ... it can be so nerve-racking!

I'm doiong well. Just kind of taking it easy and enjoying the pg for now. Not too incredibly big yet, but I'm starting to get alittle more uncomfy sometimes. The baby is very active and all over the place.

As for any guesses on what gender this babe is...I'm thinking boy. Only because it feels more like DS's pg than DD's. But honestly, it doesn't really matter.

i am feeling very blaaaah. whats making it so bad is that my body is in permanent angs over having been sleeping on an air mattres son the floor for over a month now. long story there but lets just say i will NEVER purchase anything from select comfort EVER again.
so now i am sleeping on the couch, when i can fall asleep anyways. and of course during the night my 2 & 3yo join me. now if i could ease the back and pelvic pain i might be ok.
and i am feeling like these last 3 mths are going to drag. i really have no pg complaints, i dont really even feel pg, but being as I have been pg and/or breastfeeding for the past 5 yrs...i am just...tired.
as far as vibes for the surprise jumping bean, i am very much vibe-ing a girl.

I feel great and have a lot of energy (thank god- finals are this week)- but I have had a cold that was making me so nauseated I couldn't eat much. I have these stretching pains down low on the sides of my belly- I hope its just stretching- they get pretty intense and I find it hard to walk around sometimes- it only happens about once or twice a week though. I wonder if its because I had really strong abs before I got pregnant and they don't want to stretch!
Is anyone else having growing pains?

I have had growing pains too. They can be pretty intense sometimes. I have to get up slowly and ease into things sometimes. They have let up for now.
I saw my MW today since I was concerned about decreased movement. The baby is moving a lot more now and everything checked out ok. I feel so much better. She is a tiny bit concerned that it could be breech right now, but there is plenty of time for that to change. I was feeling some pretty strong pressure near my cervix which she said could be a foot pushing down. She couldn't be sure that she felt the head down today so just wants to keep an eye on that. Other than that, everything is great.

This pregnancy has been sooo different from my first. I'm thinking it's a girl and not a boy again. I had so much nausea during the first trimester that I lost 12 pounds. (don't worry, I could stand to lose some!). So don't hate me but I haven't gained that 12 back yet, about halfway there. It's good though, I feel like that time really made me focus on eating good food and what's really important. Anyhoo, I did not have so much nausea during the first preg. at all. Also, my back has been killing me off and on. That's different too. And, I've felt kicks/movement really early.

Holy cow, the kicks I have felt the last few days have been tremendous. And baby is now at many other times during the day, not just when I am sitting down or lying down.

I've figured out that the back pain only gets bad when I am tired. Which means I have to take a nap during the day when I need one. Which I hate to do because that's my "me" or sanity time, kwim?

Also starting to feel like rolling over in bed is a major accomplishment.

I've also had 3 baby dreams. In all three, it's a girl who was 7 lb, 7 oz and 7 inches long (?!?). I guess it's a recurring dream. The labor in the dream is easy and pleasant but something always happens postpartem, like I can't find the baby, or my relatives won't let me nurse.

Ds keeps on saying it's a girl too. I guess if it's a boy, we'll all be surprised but just as happy.

I'm sick & tired LOL. I have a cough that is keeping me up all night. So I'm extremely tired today even with a nap. I guess I used up all my energy yesterday while putting up new curtain rods in the living room. Oh and now I have those charlie horse cramps in my calves at night. THey hurt soooo bad!

I can't stop eating. I eat all day. I can't help it. I try to resist but I end up making more ham & cheese sandwiches and eating more granola bars. I'm really worried about gaining weight. I'm up 14-15lbs now. But last time I gained 75lbs with Kaya and don't want to repeat that again.

Tomorrow we are having a follow-up ultrasound. At our 20 week one, they were concerned about the width of one of Ellery's ventricles (brain) and we are following up with a perinatalogist tomorrow. I'm a tiny bit worried but I'm keeping the faith. I'm excited to see her again though.

so that's my update...my first update I just found out you mamas have been posting on the weekly threads! I was wondering why the board seemed slow! this is a good way to keep it all in one place

Hey there mamas!

I'm feeling pretty good. Hips are starting to get a bit cranky. Getting so excited, only 13+or- weeks until we get to see and hold our babe!

I'm not really having any strong vibes about our surprise. Though I did have a girl dream the other night. I had a really vivid image of what she looked like. I remember thinking she had her pap'as bright blue eyes and long, dark lashes and a really cute smile. Then I kept forgetting to take care of her and forgetting to call my mom and tell her I had the baby.

We took a nice "movement for partners in labor" workshop with my yoga teacher on Sunday. It was basically about physical communication for helping mama, and supportive postures, movements, and massages. Our midwife's classes start next week. I've also decided to take a hypnobirthing class, and will start listening to the relaxation CD tonight. Anybody done or planning to do hypnobirthing?

Erica--Ellery is a really pretty and original name!

Kindermama--A high quality magnesium supplement should help with the leg cramps. I began taking them myself a couple of weeks ago when I felt the first twinges of cramps coming on.
MamaSpruce--I think that it's great that you are taking so many classes from different instructors. Take lessons learned from each of them and work it all into a birth style that works for you.

As for my pg, I am feeling so huge! I have GOT to get on the ball with exercising, since my neck/back strain from my wreck kept me off my feet for so long. Excuses, excuses. Even midwives need a kick in the butt once in a while. :LOL

Hey ladies!

I became an aunt last night! My SIL gave birth to Fiona (middle name pending) at 5:35 pm.

She had preclampsia and was induced with pitocin. Baby was occiput posterior and stuck, so they used a vacuum to get her out. All of this lead to a lot of pain for SIL (who had an epidural, but the doctors turned it way down for pushing), and prompted the whole family to call me and basically tell me I'm crazy for even thinking about going natural.

Luckily my mom is very supportive of my choices (she had both my sister and I without any drugs). I just keep nodding my head and saying "I'll keep that in mind" whenever anyone brings up the subject.

Having to make all of these plans, when I have NO IDEA what it will be like to either give birth or be a mother, is frustrating. Its like having to buy a car without having ever driven (or even ever having rode in one). I figure the best I can do is to fully prepare for a natural birth and take things in stride if that doesn't happen, right? I know they are just trying to look out for me, but really the last thing I need right now is to be any more freaked out than I already am!

Hmmm, I think I just needed to vent that somewhere.

Kindermama - I agree about the magnesium suppliment. I am taking one because I was found to be deficient and I haven't had a single leg cramp.

Mamasrpuce - I bought the book by Marie Mongan and read it, but was really turned off by her blaming the church for pain in labor (I get her point, but she could have at least attempted to be less offensive). I also bought the Leclaire Method book and cds, plus I have one hypnobabies cd. My cd player broke, so I haven't listened to them in a month or so, guess I should get back into it. Which class are you taking?

My Dh & I are thinking boy, but DD is 100% certain it is a girl. She said the other day that she wishes she could have a brother. Daddy said, "mommy is growing a baby for you. It could be a brother." SHe said, "Yeah, but that baby is a girl." She has never waivered.
I am trying to teach her that baby dolls won't cry or get hurt badly when you swing them by the arm/head/leg, "but a real baby will. Maybe we could be more gentle." Hopefully in the next few months she will get better...

I was thinking (obviously not well) until today that I am 28+ weeks along. I remembered my last MW visit at 26 weeks instead of the 24 that it was... Can someone help me out here so I don't totally overload my very tired brain. I have a nasty cold & cough. I get contractions when I cough too much or hard. With DD, I had contractions from 17 weeks on. (5-7 minutes apart for that long)... Not looking forward to that again!!!!!!!!!!!!

mommyto2, you are due 3 days after me so you should be at 27 weeks Friday?

Cholderby, my class is based on the Morgan method. I didn't really shop around, as the only class offered in my area uses that book/method. I've just gotten some really great feedback on the midwife that teaches it. She was at the birth of a really good friend who loved her, and I've talked to several other mamas who said the class helped them so much. Plus she'll be on our birth team too.

I'm feeling ok, only minor problems that I won't complain about since they could be sooo much worse. I think my energy level is up a bit. It's not like it was pre-pregnancy, or even at the level it was at this point in my previous pregnancies, but I have some energy now, anyway.

I've had boy vibes from the beginning with this baby. Boys totally run in DH's family and with two sons already I can't even imagine having a daughter. Sometimes I really wish I could have another female around here though. Even our cat is a boy.

The old wives tales, however, are mostly saying that I'll have a girl. The Chinese chart and the needle test both say girl, and I'm carrying high and craving sweets. A lot of the old superstitions predicted that my last baby was a girl too, so there goes what little faith I had in the old stories.
Even my doctor predicted my DS would be a girl at the end of my pregnancy, because he seemed to smaller than my 1st. Well, he WAS smaller, but he was still a boy!:LOL
