Welcome to December! Whether you're exercising to maintain or lose weight, to avoid watching too much TV, to spend more time with your children/family and friends, to get out and enjoy the colder weather (or go inside to escape the colder weather), or for other health reasons like to ease back pain, I hope you join me in exercising.

For those who need ideas:
Walking
Bicycling
Riding an exercise bike
Jogging or running
Swimming if you can find a heated pool
Lifting weights
Stretching
Parking further away, taking the stairs
I'm sure you could think of more.

Be careful, enjoy yourself, and have a great time - and you don't have to limit yourself to 1,000 minutes. Feel free to set your goal lower to fit your and your family's needs (or to accommodate pain), or to set your goal higher if you think you have that much time and the ability to exercise despite the cold.

Welcome back lab, and welcome meandk! You are way ahead of me lab. I am going to set a lower goal this month because my daughter has bronchitis - I'm not completely well either - and hopefully I'll surpass that goal like I did last March or April.

12/1 1/2 mile 20 minutes of walking
12/2 15 minute walk
12/3 1 30 minute mile walked with my daughter
12/4 1 30 minute mile walked at sunrise + 1 hour of walking + 1 30 minute mile walked = 120
12/5 1/2 mile 20 minutes of walking
12/6 about 45 minutes of walking
12/7 1 35 minute mile walked and 15 minutes on my exercise bike until it protested (squeaked too much) = 50
12/8 rested
20 + 15 + 30 + 120 + 20 + 45 + 50 = 300/1,000

Hello everyone! Of course it is okay to start late Nazsmum!
What's that line about coming in last at a 5K? Something about lapping the person sitting on the couch..... ;-)

I'm sorry to hear about your baby Catholic Mama..... I hope you both get to feeling better soon. Don't worry about your goals...this month is a hard one to stay on track.

Yes, welcome, Nazsmum!

Thanks for understanding, lab. We're getting better.

12/9 10 minutes of stretching that day and previous days
12/10 10 minutes of cleaning related exercise + 30 minutes of raking (great for my arms!) + 5 minutes of walking while watering the plants and checking the mail + 10 minutes of walking during a phone call + 30 minutes riding my exercise bike (that was wonderful!) + 5 minutes stretching = 90
10 + 90 = 100

300 + 100 = 400/1,000

12/11 30 minutes of walking + 5 minutes of stretching = 35
12/12 30 minutes of cleaning related exercise, mostly fast walking + 5 minutes of stretching = 35
12/13 3 hours of cleaning + 55 minutes of picking up sticks + 5 minutes of stretching = 4 hours = 240
35 + 35 + 240 = 310
400 + 410 = 810/1,000
Good news: yesterday morning I weighed 3 pounds less than average, and I'm slowly getting over my cold. Thanks be to God :)

12/14 1 35 minute mile walked
12/15 2 30 minute miles + 25 minute walk + 30 minutes riding my exercise bike + 5 minutes of stretching = 120
35 + 120 = 155
810 + 155 = 965/1,000
