We missed a November thread. I've been waiting till today to start one for Dec.

Our Off-Topic life: I finally had the baby!! Yay! http://picasaweb.google.com/Carriebeary77/Thomas
He was born at 43 wks, unassisted, 1 month ago , and weighed 9lb 3oz! Go me! The kids LOVE him and are doing GREAT with him.

Work is going very well for dh.

School is going great for the older kids.

My mom came down and reupholstered my chair that Terabith gave me! It looks great.

It's Dec in Texas and I wore sandals today. It's about 73 degrees. I don't know where "winter" is but it cam show up any time now. I want a change in seasons.

Max has 3 appointments next week and I have 1. Chiro (me & Thomas), ARD (IEP) meeting w/ school, follow up w/ developmental ped, and dental visit. Busy week. Plus dh wants to get Thomas' birth certificate.

Congratulations, what a little cutie he is! I love looking at gentian violet babies hehe. I hope the thrush is gone.

Things are going smoothly here. Ava's having some regressions but she was hospitalized at the end of October so I'd say that's completely normal. She's going through a new stage of what I think is separation anxiety, something she's never had...and I do mean never.

Alexander is still doing well in school and aside from the "Trouble" incident of this week he's been much less aggressive. He has friends now at school...they all tell him goodbye when he leaves and he now remembers to tell them goodbye back. It warms my heart to see that.

I'm finishing up my first semester back at University since the 90s and my husband's big project at work is about to go live - it's a project that has been years in the making. Needless to say we don't see much of him right now.

Awwwww! What a sweet little baby boy Congrats!

I'm working on Christmas shopping. Have most of it done. Well, the kids and dh. Everyone else is optional. The year I was pregnant with Maura, dh was away on business the first three weeks of December. I announced that unless I married you or gave birth to you, don't expect anything.

You know, it made life a lot more easier and I've sort of stuck to it.

It's snowing/icing here, which will turn into rain tomorrow and then back to snow. Should be fun. Really.

I also wrestled an old lady at Lowe's for a wreath. Okay, it wasn't as bad as that. I found one I had to have - white LED lighted wreath that works on batteries. I needed a cart, so I put it down near the entrance to get a cart, come back and this woman's checking out my wreath! It was the only one with white lights, so I got all bold and said "Um, excuse me, but I put that down there so I could get a cart." The woman was very nice about it, I pointed her in the direction of where I got it, and then high tailed it away with my wreath

I'm glad you got your wreath PeekyBoo! I'd have done the same thing...internally freak for a second and then be polite and hope it works hehe. Thankfully she understood and let ya have it.

Congratulations on the birth of Thomas (if I've not mentioned in threads elsewhere....I know I lurked at least to see how you were doing when he was born )

We just got back from North Carolina (10+ hour drive for us). The boys did fantastic in the car and, aside from Andrew's sleeping, in the hotel too. When I get a good nights sleep I may come back to this thread and have some more to add. My brain is only half working and sort of is wrapped up in boys/Andrew/medical stuff right now cause of the trip.

I need to shop for Christmas. Badly. I pretty much hate shopping though--at least this type of shopping. I'm an abnormality in that way I guess. I did sort of make an initial list for the boys on the way home today.

Rachelle - was your trip to NC a medical trip (for an appt)? Get some rest tonight. Long road trips exhaust me.

Impressive! I am done buying for my extended family, my son needs one more gift (gotta find a digital camera that I like for him that won't make me cry if he breaks it hehe), and my daughter is about halfway done. I haven't bought my husband's gift yet but I know what it is, does that count?

I don't wrap until a few days before Christmas...neither kid realizes it isn't a free-for-all the second they're under the tree. :

This morning, all I can say is...

ow.

Maura was on the stairs last night and I went to get her. Picked her up basically under the arms, turned around, lost my footing, hit the stairs, sliding down about five or six of them.

It was so dramatic that my usually oblivious boys noticed. I was very happy that Collin came running over, even if he was asking if Maura was okay. Uh, yeah, she was just fine - she used me as a sled, sliding down the stairs.

Me - I'm really hurting this morning. I jarred just about everything, and I've got a bruise the size of my hand on my right side, by my tailbone. And my muscles are so and I slept poorly and I can't sit correctly b/c my backside HURTS!

BUT - better me than Maura. And it makes my kids giggle when I talk about the bruise on my butt.

Congrats on the baby!!

We're keeping busy! My girls just started gymnastics and it's crazy how just one more thing makes me feel so much more busy! I'm ALMOST done Christmas shopping, still have a few presents, but the kids are done. Now I just need to wrap it all! :

justthatgirl: Congrats! He's beautiful!

peekyboo: Ouch, hope you didn't sprain anything.

I got such a jump start on X-Mas shopping, I was sure I'd be done by now, but I haven't had time to go to the store for weeks. It's looking like last minute madness again.

DD and DS have been having a very rough time lately, but my 7 mo old is doing great. He has 2 teeth, and slithers around on my hardwood floors like a snake. He's starting to talk! His first words? "Blah, blah, blah, blah."

That is one cute little guy!! Congrats mama!
Birth story here or in a blog somewhere?

I'm all done shopping for the kids. I have my parents and brother to do and that's about it. Without the internet, I'd DIE. I would seriously die.

I did already give the kids their "big" presents from me. I got them the winter fairy and the treestump house from Magic Cabin because my Dad is giving DS his first electric train (wait much there, Grandpa?!?) and I didn't want anything to be more fun than that on Xmas morning. Let their imaginations grow now, please!!

I'm TTC number 3 too. And we're looking at a new minivan this month. So car shopping we will go even though I've already made up my mind.

No official birth story yet. Here's what I wrote in my ddc, though:

I woke at 6:20 or so with contractions. I tried to sleep again. My mom called at 6:37 and I was still contracting (of course). It went on like that till around 10:40 when I needed to push. It was such a fast labor. I didn't expect it.

The pains when it was time to push were overwhelming and I ended up panicking. Yelling, "I can't do this!" even though logic was telling me, "What the heck are you gonna do? Go to the hospital like this? The baby is coming out NOW and no medic would make it in time. Besides, what are they gonna do??" In retrospect it's rather amusing but in the moment I was very scared. The pain was constant, I wasn't getting a break and I wasn't expecting that.

I went to the toilet to clean up a little (bodily functions) and realized I needed to get OFF the toilet, otherwise he'd have been born in the toilet. Not the place for a baby! lol!

Then for awhile afterward the after pains (after the placenta had come out, about 20 min or so) were freaking me out again and I was in shock again! So I took some homeopathic remedies for shock, bruising & swelling, and nerve pain throughout the afternoon. It helped. Of course, I still feel bruised from pushing a bowling ball out of myself. I'm feeling much better than I was, though, both physically and mentally.

Tim (dh) was OUTSTANDING throughout the labor and birth. I couldn't have asked for a better partner. He was excited and happy and calm and peaceful and just awesome. He'd help me focus and he was just great, especially when I was freaking out.
