I hope I am not going to get slammed for this post.

Anyhow, I was a vegetarian for nine years and then when I became pregnant with my last daughter (who is now 5 1/2 yrs old) I craved meat and it was the worst kind too. I craved Burger King whoppers like there was no tomorrow. After a several months of trying very hard to fight it I gave in. I know that is sick but I couldn't help it and then for some reason I never went back fully to where I was. During the time I was pregnant and the past six years I have never cooked beef or pork of any sort in my house. I occassionally cooked chicken and had turkey only on Thanksgiving and did eat seafood in the house. Basically the only time I ate red meat was when I went out to dinner or was at someone else's house.

Now after about six years of being like this I want to go back to where I was nine years ago. I know my ds will have lots of problems with this adjustment especially since he had trouble the first time around. I am thinking my dh might have some problems too although this time he suggested it when last time I forced him into it. I think that my six daughters will be easy to convert especially since my oldest two daughters and my fifth daughter never went back to eating meat. It will be my third daughter and my youngest that I think might have a little bit of a hard time with it.

I hope I am welcome to post here as I start my transition back to a healthier lifestyle that doesn't include meat.

Good luck

Well, I am not back to being vegetarian yet, and really fell off the wagon for so long. I mentioned to someone at school that I was going to go back to being a vegetarian and she ripped into me about how I shouldn't bring it up until I do it and how horrible I was for eating meat for the past six years.

That's awesome!

I think ANY move that anyone can make towards Veg*n is a step in the right direction and will make a difference.

Sigh, don't let those comments get you down. Truthfully, when I was younger I saw the world in those type of black and white terms but I don't think that attitude is very productive.

I married a non-Veg*n (who I thought was probably a veg*n at heart). I never said a word to him about switching his diet but didn't ever cook anything but veg*an meals. He finally came around on his own. It was a slow process and the final push for him was seeing the movie "Peaceable Kingdom". I highly recommend this movie.

Thank you - today is the first day of me going back. Hopefully it will be easy
It wasn't too hard the first time around so I am thinking it won't be too hard this time - other than my son (the meat eater) LOL
