Are there any items that you regret getting rid of? I sold a lot of appliances last year. I rarely ever used my food processor, but now I wonder if I should have kept it. There are other items that I sometimes regret giving away, but I'm mostly happy about what I've purged.

There are some of the kids' toys that I wish I'd have boxed up, and saved for young visitors, or my someday grandchildren. I tend to err on the side of purging bc my mom was an ocd hoarder, and it was hell. Now, all this attempted cleaning I am doing is on hold, I have boxes in my bedroom and my laundry room full of stuff to take to the church rummage sale, not 'til APRIL! But I do want to keep it til then, bc it's for the youth and helps pay for summer trips my kids want to go on. Wish we had a bigger garage!

Only the baby stuff we gave away before I found out I was pregnant with this little surprise.

I have mild remorse at times, but then reason kicks in.

This winter my husband asked for the crock pot that I donated probably 3 years ago. We rarely used it. I felt bad about it for a minute and then thought that we hadn't missed it in 3 years and barely used it when we had it.

Or I will remember a shirt I liked and then remember that it didn't fit right and I never wore it.

I can't think of anything that I gave away that I really regret.

I threw out all the seashells I collected with my grandparents when I was a little girl. I got rid of them about 7 years ago and feel bad about it on a regular basis.

I kind of wish I had kept the crock pot I freecycled last year but in reality it was too big and we rarely used it, maybe a smaller one will come my way someday!

Yes - I decluttered my juicer a few months back. The other day I went looking for it and realized where it was.

Oh well - 1 thing from the hundreds and hundreds of items I have decluttered isn't so bad.

No, not really. Although if I think about it too long I get worried about 'someday' needing/wanting something and that gets in the way of my purging.

So I usually take a deep breath and just get rid of whatever it is.

I do worry though that I will want whatever it is someday. So that's hard for me. I don't think I'm a packrat per se, but I do struggle with just letting something go away.

Somehow there's a difference?

I sold my food processor, too. The only time I miss it is when I have to grate a lot of carrots or something. But mostly I'm happy I sold the stuff.

Ditto. Especially my cloth diaper stash. That I can't afford to go out and replace (at any rate, DH, who is the SAHP, refuses to use cloth--so why bother?)

I regret selling my piano last year. And I kind of regret getting rid of our bedroom set stuff that we inherited from my grandma, because someday I might give the bedroom set back to her and I worry that she'll want the sheets and bedding she gave us too. It was all African-themed and that is so not my style so I got rid of it. I hope she doesn't get upset!!

The only other thing is that I got rid of DH's high school shirts without telling him. He thinks that he accidentally donated them, but I know better. I wish I had made them into a blanket or something for him instead, but I don't feel too bad because I know he'd still be trying to wear these 10 year old shirts that are 2 sizes too small. No way. Not letting that happen.

Yes, I'm a compulsive over-purger.

The worst was when we moved and had a giant garage sale when I was 8.5 months pregnant and I got rid of nearly all my pre-preggo clothes, especially the summery ones, because I just couldn't imagine ever fitting in them again. Six months later when I was more or less back to normal size, I really regretted it! For some reason I also got rid of all my perfume. I think the smell still made me gag. I haven't really missed that, though -- just once when DH and I had a date and I thought I needed some perfume!
