My Minneapolis, Minnesota family (me, husband, dd age 10, ds age 2) will be staying in the Delray Beach area for a month this summer, end of June - end of July. Would LOVE to find some other folks to have occasional playdates or outings with. Also seeking general advice - where to go, what to do - for families like us (attachment parenting, breastfeeding, etc etc). Thanks mamas!

I am no longer in that area (moved in 2007 to Tallahassee) but as far as things to do while you are there that are kid friendly:

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center (a friend of mine still works there):

Busch Wildlife Sanctuary up in Jupiter (kind of a drive from Delray):
http://www.buschwildlife.com/

While you are up there check out the Marinelife Center in Juno Beach:

There are some neat natural areas throughout the county, check out Delray Oaks (I used to manage it):

I do recall that there used to be an Attachment Parenting group in Palm Beach County and I liked my LLL meetings there. I am not up to date on any of the AP/bfing resources there though, other than the doulas and midwives I keep in touch with (I am excited because they just opened a birth center in Delray Beach: http://palmsbirthhouse.com/ they also do yoga and massage there).

Good luck and have fun. I grew up in Minnesota and my relatives think it is really hot during June/July and won't visit me, so keep that in mind and try to keep cool (lots of beautiful beaches to visit there!).

Thanks for these links! They look great. We've been to FL in the summer before, so we know what we're in for. Lots of swimming should help, right?
