Hi! I'm Rhiannon, mommy to Madison who will be two on Saturday and Owen who is two months. We've CD'd since Madison was nine months using CPF's, ProRaps, some WAHM fleece covers and FB at night. I had a snafu with a large order of newborn sized stuff when Owen was born and have since started playing with my system. I now own several CB's, and CW and have a couple of wool covers on the way. I've been buying the CB's from different makers and out of different fabric combinations on purpose. Unfortunately I don't find myself with a huge understanding of what I don't like about a dipe, ie is it the fabric, the soaker fabric, the maker etc. So, if anyone wants to suggest the "perfect" configuration that'd be great.

My next question is, how do you store fitted diapers? For my PFs I've got two large rectangular Rubbermaids not too tall, one for diapers and one for liners, washcloths and misc. stuff. The wraps and FB go on a rack above the dryer or over the changing table. This sort of system doesn't seem to hold very many CB's though. Any thoughts?

Finally, is it okay to wash CB's with the snap in doubler still snapped in? I swear I've read the wash instructions a couple of times as the CBs came and I don't remember running across this but maybe I've just been blind. Anyway, in todays wash load I lost two snaps from two different diapers by two different makers. Both were from the snap in doubler. I'm guessing this means the washer was just too rough on them snapped in?

Thanks a bunch and I look forward to being around more,

Rhiannon

Hi Rhiannon! Glad you delurked!

I can't suggest a "perfect combination" as it is different for everyone. I like fleece against my babe, so FB's work great for that--and the convenience, fit, etc. I also like Sugarpeas with the fleece topped doubler for that reason. I love cuddlebuns--they are just too cute!

Until recently I stored my dipes right next to the changing table in one of those white metal vinyl covered 3 tiered carts that you can buy for less than 10 bucks at Target. It worked great, but I couldn't possibly fit everything on it, so I took over the top drawer of my changing table/dresser for dipes and then everything else still goes in the cart. It works pretty good.

I sometimes launder my dipes with the doubler still snapped in. I forget to unsnap. I've never had any snaps come off, but I'm sure you are supposed to unsnap before laundering--I can see where it would be pretty hard on them. I'm not absolutely sure, though.

My babe is also named Owen! Great choice! :LOL

Jeri - I absolutely love my name! Now. When I was a kid, it was a curse. When I was a teenager, I often felt bitter. Sometime as I closed in on adulthood I began to love it :) The only thing I don't like about it is that it dates me quite well. People who know Fleetwood Mac are generally pretty good with their years and can guess how old I am, which as a woman I just might want to hide sometimes.

Welcome Rhiannon!
Looking forward to getting to know ya.

I store my dipes in a 3-drawer plastic chest that I got at Target for around $15 or so.
It works great...you can see all the dipes at a glance and since I have it sitting on top of a small end table, it keeps them away from prying little hands.

Can't help ya with the Cuddlebuns, as I've never tried them.

that has snaps to it. Doublers and soakers and such. IMHO it just adds unneeded stress. Those suckers are made to suck up fluids so imagine how much they absorb floating in water and then when it agitates it pulls them apart and with the added weight and twisting and turning going on in your washer it is just asking for trouble. Some soakers are prtty long and you could end up with quite the tangle of soakers, liners, doublers.

Again just my .02

Ugh anyone seen my

Yeah, you're here!

Rhiannon is my smart and funny friend from a pregnancy board (that I no longer belong to). You all will love her!

On the Cuddlebuns, I think Sherry is right about the added stress with agitation-- but I never bother to unsnap the doublers before I wash, it's been a year, yadda yadda yadda. It seems that the worst thing that might happen is that a snap would break-- but if that does happen, most likely the WAHM maker will replace it.

Well, okay, I'll be that young Seriously though, the song came out in 1975, so early doesn't quite cut it for me anymore, but I am still hanging on to mid-20's.

Thanks for the endorsement K. Technically, I'm her smart and funny friend from an old married people group, and a breastfeeding group and a pregnancy group.

On the Cuddlebuns, I was shocked to find a snap in my washer as I unloaded it. Then, I found another. One metal, one plastic. When the dipes came out of the dryer they were both off of doublers. So...should I contact the WAHM's or should I suck it up? They've each got one snap left. The only real issue is probably when / if I want to sell them.

I'm not saying I'm old, just not in my early 20s. And I definitely see advantages to not having every baby boomer out there be able to guess my age immediately - often because its okay if they think I'm older than I actually am

I'd contact the WAHM and tell them that your snap came off, they should replace it for you. If there was nothing in the directions about unsnapping the doublers then it's on them to replace the broken snap.

Hi Rhiannon! I agree, very pretty and unique name! I know nothing about Fleetwood Mac, so how do you pronounce your name? Ree-ann-on?

I use Cuddlebuns and CPFs. As far as fabric choices, my personal preference is velour inner (touching baby). I have a couple microfleece inner but they never seem to get all the way dry inside and I think it's because the fleece traps the moisture below it. Unfortunately I believe i have mildew growing just underneath the fleece layer on one of my diapers. It is a suspicious grayish looking stain. I don't know what to do with it. Velour, on the other hand, seems to let the moisture out when the diapers are drying in the drier and they dry fast.

I don't care too much for sherpa inner because it gets crunchy.

Anyway, just thought I'd put in a vote for velour!

Welcome to the board.
