I had to get an endoscopy this morning and it turns out I have a hiatal hernia. For the procedure I had to dress in a gown and could only leave my undies and socks on. I was so out of it. Dh said I was talking and alert and the doctor told me his findings. but I don't remember any of it.<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/dizzy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Dizzy">: I'm glad he sent me home with a paper report. Anyway, so dh had to help me get dressed. When I got home I realized that I didn't have a bra on. I asked where my bra was and he said it was in my purse. He couldn't figure out how to put it on.<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol">

Sometimes I watch him fold laundry and my bra cups (I have padded) <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/redface.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Embarrassment"> will be right side in or inside out and he holds it up and can't figure out why one side is pointing in and one side pointing out. He just matches up the cups and stuffs the straps in and puts it aside.

Oh I hope it goes well! I was really scared but it turned out to be nothing to get so upset about. The doctor said the procedure would last about 20 minutes so I assume after that I started to come to. I have very little memory of coming to or the drive home. I had it done at 8:30 and it's now almost 4 and I still feel a little dizzy when I stand up. I am very sensitive to meds though. Good luck with yours! What are they looking for (if I may be nosey). I hope your dh plans to be home for the rest of the day because I spent most of my afternoon sleeping it off.

Yes, dh is going to be home all day.<br><br>
They are looking for evidence of IBS, Celiac Disease, anything they can find to diagnose this terrible illness that has been plaguing me since December. I had to wait six weeks for the endoscopy because I'd gone gluten free for six weeks, and I needed to eat gluten (and dairy, and red meat) to maximize the damage to my digestive tract so he can get a definitive diagnosis.<br><br>
I'm so excited that the answer may be in sight.

We kinda did that with my daughter, too. She had her scope in December that dx her with EE. Before the scope we had only limited corn because that was the first allergy she was discovered to have. Her eos count was very, very high (to dx EE you need 20 eos per high powered fields, she had over 100). Now we have her on an extremely limited diet of elemental formula and three foods that we think are safe and she will get her next endo/biopsy on Monday to see if it has cleared up.<br><br>
Good luck with your procedure. I was soooo nervous. My friend taught me to knit yesterday and that came in handy in the waiting room.

The red meat and the dairy seem to make the most difference. I had a wheat allergy as a child so keeping my wheat intake minimal is a good idea.<br><br>
I've been following your daughter's story for years (wow, it's been years). I took some time off from it and then learned and was excited to see that she got her diagnosis (I think it's always better to know exactly what you are dealing with). Good for you for following that mama instinct and advocating so well for her!

I hope you get some answers too. Yeah I was going over her medical records from birth on, and it was so hard reading through them an not knowing what was going on. Even though this is not the best dx to get, at least we have a name to call it and a way to treat it. I hope you get the same. It will be so good to get answers one way or another, although it sounds like you already know through your own experience what makes you feel bad.<br><br>
The funny thing is that Nitara does not react to wheat on skin patch or prick tests. Not even a mild reaction. If she passes the scope on Monday we are going to let her have wheat back and see what happens. She asked me yesterday, "Mommy, when I am better, I will eat noodles. I miss cereal, too." She's so good about not touching things that people give her if it's not one of her three foods.

That is too sweet. Is rice one of her three foods? There's an impressive amount of rice noodles out there, and they taste so similar. I've enjoyed eating all the "trigger" foods this month because I've missed them, but the med I'm on to keep me from getting ill from it makes me very tired. April has been an unproductive month. I need to to get better fast, we're moving to ABQ in July!

Believe it or not she's allergic to rice. Had a reaction on a skin test. Before the skin test her doctor had said okay to rice as her first food back off the no-food, formula only period. Within 5 days she was back to gagging, choking, sleeping poorly and other symptoms.<br><br>
But she had no reaction to wheat on the same skin test. Her three foods are white potatoes, carrots, and broccoli. We are allowed to cook the potatoes in highly refined canola, sunflower, or safflower oil. There are like 1001 ways to make potatoes so it's a good food to be able to eat. I made her some potato donuts the other day because she really wanted donuts. I just cut some thick wedges, fried them up, and cut holes in the centers.
