My 1 yo dd has been hitting some, but not fairly hard. Last night she hit me in the face harder than normal. Before I even had the chance to say "Gaea we need to do gentle touches. It hurts when we hit.", my dh, who is more mainstream, scooped up said "No hitting mama. You were bad!" and put her in her crib for "time-out"!!!
I quickly explained to him that I didn't agree with time-out, especially not at such a young age. And went and got her out. She was crying uncontrollably! After I bf her and got her calmed down, dh and I had a long talk about gd and where he stood with discipline. I think that he is now open to, and has a better understanding of gd.

Wow. That's great you are on the same page now. What would've bothered me a little more than him putting a one year old in time out (like they even can begin to understand what that is at that age) is that he "punished" her after you had already taken care of the situation. I would've been very angry if my dh had done something like that.
Good for ya'll though that you talked it through and he understands now.
