Let's see if we can figure this out. I'm trying to afford going to the doctor because I have a huge deductible and the whole visit would be out of pocket.

Tuesday night my eye started watering and then hurting. It felt like there was sand in it. That night around 10 I started feeling really ill. My eye really hurt, I was a little nauseated, and I felt exhausted. When I got in bed I was freezing. My head felt warm but we didn't take a temperature. I was so cold I was shaking and chattering my teeth. At some point the fever broke and I wasn't cold anymore.

At this point I thought it was pink eye but the NP at my doctor's office said that pink eye doesn't come with fever.

Wednesday my throat started hurting. I have congested sinuses and started feeling the urge to cough.

Today the coughing is worse but is being controlled with lots of warm tea. Nose is still running thick snot. My eye seems pretty much all better, a bit water but not swollen at all and all the yellow pus is gone.

So what is it? Is it one thing or two illnesses I was just so blessed to get at the same time?

ETA: ds has both eyes affected for the last few days with thick yellow pus. He has a little bit of a runny nose but no more than he has since things started blooming here.
dh is sick as well but only has the store throat, his eyes are fine.
Thank God, dd is fine and no symptoms.

I say sinus infection.

Your sinuses are draining through your nose, eye, and down the back of your throat. Your throat is irritated from the infected material and it's sore.

was under the impression that Pink Eye was a common virus that gets into your eye (I believe my neighbor's Dr. told her this)
So my guess is that it got into your eye as well as your system?
Te sandy feeling and the yellow puss etc sounds like punk eye. The rest just sounds like a bug.
Unless it gets worse, I would take it easy and assume you have a virus.
Hope you feel better soon!

ds is having only the eye infection part, both his eyes though while I had only one affected.

Then I would go with viral pink eye. Maybe yours in draining inward now instead of outward? The viral type is the most contagious form, but also resolves on it's own in a few days. The bacterial form is not so contagious and needs treatment of some form. ARe you lactating? Breastmilk used as eye drops clears it up lickety split.

We are actually going through the exact same thing right now! I have the eye stuff and the fever and chills and so does DS. DD also came down with the eye stuff and a runny nose.

We only have a $10.00 co-pay and were all miserable so we loaded up and went to the Dr. yesterday.

It is sinus and ear infections! My ears are both infected (even though it didn't feel like ear aches), both of the kids have ear infections and we all have sinus infections as well.

I think its a sinus infection. I get that kind all the time, barely a cold & then stuff in the eyes, it sucks! My middle son will get it in both eyes too from time to time, me, only in one eye. Its how your face is built & which sinuses are affected. Try pressing your fingers all over your upper cheeks, under your eyes--you can really tell where the infection is. I have found that the neti pot works well for me. You can also take garlic & chop it raw & swallow it like pills, every 4-6 hours--natural antibiotic. Good luck!

Have you had your DS checked? I had a terrible eye infection once. My eye was swollen shut and there was yellow goo coming out of it. I called the nurse help line and they said to come into the emergency room. It was 2am. I asked if it could wait until morning and they said no. Eye infections can be very serious--they said that if I had waited until morning I could have lost my eye. Apparently it is even more dangerous for children.

I have the same thing as does DD. We took her to the Dr but I didn't go (my doc gives me tons of refills on meds so I have 3 left for amoxicillian). I figured whatever is worng with DD is wrong with me too. She has a double ear infection and a sinus infection. Also she is on cipro drops for pinkeye.

This sickness is just horrible and really contageous. My mom watched DD while sick (she wasn't allowed back to daycare with a 102f fever, which she had for 3 days even with tylenol/motrin). Her fever went away as soon as we started the amoxicillian. She is taking 400(g or mg I forget) of antibiotics for 10 days and cipro drops 3 times a day for 7 days. I started my 10 day supply of amoxicillian right away too.

I resisted the antibiotics at first but had a horrible relapse abotu a week in. I got a fever (no temp taken but I know I had one) and just couldn't lift my head. Then sore throat came back and sinusus plugged shut.

I still feel horrible and I am on day 13 of this crap. I have gone thru so many boxes of lotion infused kleenex (sorry but I have to use them). Even with that, my nose is totally cracked and bleeding.
