Diagnosis: Wart in Nose!

Saw the ENT today and he immediately diagnosed my extra "nose skin" as a wart. Ugghhh. I have never had a wart before and so naturally had no idea how he was going to remove it. OUCH
He stuck a needle in my nose to numb the area and then cut it out! The pain was so intense I thought I was going to pass out.
: Now it just stings, but at least it's gone. He said it was a good thing that I had it removed because if any of the "juices" came out of the wart, I could have many more warts appear in my nose. :puke

Yucky!
If it makes you feel any better I have a cold sore in my right nostril. It's getting better, so we're both on the nose-road to recovery.
Well, bummer, no nose picking smilies...
Ugh! Warts suck big time. Sorry you had to deal with that!
Sorry to hear about the wart! That can't have been fun.

Donna, I used to get cold sores (thankfully never in my nose!
) until I finally hit on a preventative measure: L-Lysine. When I feel one coming on, I take supplemental lysine for a few days and it totally heads them off.

I am so happy to have figured that out and no longer feel the need to curse the boy I kissed on New Year's when I was 16 who passed me a cold sore virus!

Here is some info:

EW!!!! I am so glad that he was able to take care of it for you. Were you just grossed out?? Let's hope that there are no juices that have seeped into your schnoz!

I have bought it at different health food/supplement stores. When I first started using it, it wasn't strictly legal to sell individual amino acids in Canada (combinations were fine) but although I sometimes had to hunt and/or ask for it since they kept it out of sight, I was always able to find it. These days, I never have any trouble finding it and they keep it right out on the shelves so I'm guessing they have relaxed that regulation.

I'm pretty sure it's fully available in the states (I first found out about it when I was living there briefly) so I wouldn't think you would have any problems finding it.

I have some in the drawer but I don't always remember it, it was a tip from my dentist. I don't get them as frequently as I used to and when I did, it was fairly random (although often around AF time & physical stress).

I find that using something like Carmex as soon as I feel the tingle really, really helps them from getting bad, and if they do get bad - salt on the wound helps it heal FAST (but OUCH).

Fortunately this one went away as fast as it appeared. Last pg I got a canker sore on my gums.

I'm pretty sure I got it from my Mom who is also prone to cold sores.

Sorry to hijack the thread, Maria!! Hope you're healing

I like to get Lysine at Vitamin World because they sell it in capsules instead of tablets. I can't handle the chalkiness of tablets.

I used to get canker sores all the time until I started using Crest with Scope toothpaste. (Or you could wash your mouth out with Scope - I however do not like that - it burns too much). A couple of months ago, I foolishly switched my toothpaste and got a humongous cancer sore that stayed around for over a week. Now that I am back on Crest with Scope - no more cancer sores!
I was told the lysine helps for canker sores too, anyone know? I don't get cold sores but ugh, I hate canker sores.

Amy, I believe it's only been shown empirically to help with cold sores, but the theory is that it should help with canker sores, too. (Check out this link.)
