Diaper Changes

Ok, I'm new at this. Please advise!

Here's the routine we're on now:
Baby wakes, she's a little fussy but calms as soon as I pick her up. I use this opportunity of her being awake and pleasant to change her diaper (my clothies aren't new anymore!

). I nurse her, we hang out, I nurse her again and she poops while nursing, then she falls asleep at the breast or cuddling and naps for a couple hours and the cycle starts again.

Here's the problem:
She spends that whole asleep time in an icky diaper. But if I change her after the second nursing, it makes her cranky and wakes her back up. Which is worse, a cranky baby, or one who sleeps contentedly in a nasty diaper?

hmmm
i think i would change her..because of rashes and stuff. expecially when she gets older and is eatinlg soilds if she has the same general routine her poops will be alot more acidic and irritating. plus it cant feel nice to sleep with poopies...oliver does the same here..he wakes..soothes when i pick him up...but instead of changing him right then i nurse him first and then he poops and then i change him...then he is back awake and a little crusty si i nurse the other side he calms , has some awake time..sometimes or just goes back to sleep at night.. nurses a bit more and goes to sleep.

changing after the poo has 2 advantages.....1, it gets her out of the dirty diaper...2, it wakes her up again, so she nurses again, and she'll fall back to sleep with a fuller tummy and more hindmilk (that can mean more sleep). When baby gets used to this, she might not even wake up during the diaper change.
