Oops! Had ds nakey bum on my lap this morning for about 2 seconds because I knew he would have to pee pretty soon, but I guess I was a little off about the timing :LOL .

Seriously though, how to go diaper free if he associates no diaper with letting loose freely wherever? Because he is in diapers in between pottying, (which I am vigilant about changing when we miss), this is what happens when he wears nothing. Minutes later, I put him diaper-free in the sling and he signaled just as he was about to pee, (absolutly no time to get him out and on the potty). The few times I have tried no diaper I ususally don't get to him in time because I have two other high-needs dds and I am often times distracted at those key moments. I don't have enough of my own clothes to change, (so I figure missed diapers are far easier to deal with). By the way ds is 3 months today and we have been ec'ing since birth.

How do you go diaper free at this age and have minimal accidents?

Don't about the main point of your post, but you can clean your keyboard by unplugging it and putting it in your dishwasher, no heat dry=). If you don't have a dishwasher, spray throughly with a bottle of soapy water. The hard part is waiting at least 24 hours before you reconnect the keyboard to be certain it has dried completely.

Shirada,
I don't have much in the way of advice for you, but I just had to say the title of your post made me laugh.
I hope I'm laughing WITH you, I certainly am not laughing at you, but it is one of those things another EC parent can TOTALLY understand!

I can only say that I think it gets easier as they get older- she will wait for both the naked cue and the verbal or signed cue (or positional cue). Of course then things change and you go through different challenges(-:

I also think that plain old prefold diapers are GREAT to keep around in random places for that reason. Instead of setting ds down nakey-butt, just set her on the prefold. Or have a few around to mop up any misses.

Take care, I hope your keyboard will be working fine.

Sapphire Chan - wow, can you really do that with a keyboard, put it in the dishwasher!? The things you learn when a baby pees on your keyboard, (just an every day occurrence right? :LOL )

jessjgh1 - Laugh away with me - what else can we EC folk do in incidences like these Good tip about having the prefolds handy.

I went through 4 diapers in a 2 hour visit at my friend's house today!!!!!!!! It is so hard to pay attention when I am visiting with friends. They do not EC so I feel a little embarrassed having to change diapers every 30 minutes as if we were just doing regular diapers.

i've been there... my dd is 9mo and i've noticed she doesn't give signals when there are friends over (as I babysit them twice last two weeks), or adult friends who are non-ECing ... she'll wet her fitteds quickly.. I do not have any tricks for this but I know what it's like.. she's getting better but still working on "distractions"

:LOL I actually meant it is I who has difficulty in paying attention to ds signals, (or timing) when I am visiting with friends. I am a good multi-tasker but not always when it comes to EC, talking with friends and watching out my 2 other dds take turns with the other kids etc. I guess it is something I need to work on.

I only do completely nakkey butt when I am paying attention (or don't care about puddles). We only use training pants at home, though, and he tells me as soon as he's wet (as opposed to when he makes a puddle, those are far too fun to tell momma about until they've been thoroughly played in!!), so that's good enough for me for now.

And I just happen to suck at ECing while out. I've been an ECer for almost 5 years now and I still tune out a ton when I get into the car. I just have a good stash of waterproof trainers that we take along and I change him as much as possible. He's also getting better at being really insistant if he's wet, so we're getting better at it
