My DD is almost 6 weeks old and has been having reoccuring diaper rash that leads to an almost blistered bottom. She's been in cloth since day 1, but when I do use sposies (had some left from the hospital that they gave us) she gets better. At first I thought it was the cloth wipes or solution, so I changed solutions then switched to regular disposable wipes (which did help some) then I did a little test and when in sposies its GONE but in cloth she gets one instantly.

Now, she is very sensitive to her potty I know as she DEMANDS to be changed instantly when she potties or poos. I am right on the borderline with EC with her so I know exactly when she's starting to go, etc and never ever let her sit more than 5 minutes to get the changing table ready. So I know its definately not that shes sitting in it.

The dipes are prefolds and kissaluvs and all were new for her so I doubt its an issue of them needing to be stripped. I use the same detergent for all our clothes and the dipes and she only gets rashes on her bottom. What the heck is going on? Seriously within 2 diaper changes of a sposie she's healed and instantly with cloth it comes back!

I'm going to go ahead and guess it's detergent buildup anyways. That can cause bacteria to grow in the diaper, causing the rash. Try boiling the prefolds and see if that helps.

What kind of detergent are you using? Just because it's not causing her to break out in other areas, the private area is much more sensitive and could react to it if there's perfumes or dyes in it.

It still could be detergent even though the rest of her body is not affected. If you aren't already using one I'd switch to something really mild for the diapers.

I'd also try fleece liners against her skin to suck the moisture away.

That sounds like a yeast-based rash. It won't go away (if it's yeast) until you wash those diapers on HOT HOT HOT. It will live in the diapers and continue to reinfect her.

If your detergent has enzymes it could be causing a rash, the enzymes react to pee and poo. So her clothing wouldnt iritate her just her diapers ykwim. Check out pinstripes and polkadots, they have a detergent list there. Also my ds has trouble with anything besides fleece, stay dry inners. Pf's, velour and anything else not stay dry irritates him bad.
I switched from sensi clean to sun free and clear and the rashes are gone. I also bought a calming body clay powder from Ignite the senses and it works miracles. We use it every day and are now rash free no matter what type of diaper we use. We are also able to go overnights in cds without rashes for the first time in 16 months.
I'm glad we found the powder I was going to give up cd's....
I aggree with the previous posters. But it may also be the lack of a stay dry layer. I can not use prefolds and fitted diapers on my son. If I use diapers without a fleece lining, after a couple of diaper changes he gets red and then gets a rash. Every baby is different though.

I would strip you diapers and then try adding a fleece liner and see if that helps.
