Do you guys care if someone's ad for their diaper store in their sig line is gigantic? I've been noticing some huge ones lately and it kind of always jars my attention, as if someone just yelled at me (since the font size of everything else is so much smaller).

For example, I think Kindmomma's Tye Dye Dreams ad in her sig line is gorgeous and DreamingMama's Valor Kids ad is also the perfect size. But significantly larger than that and I'm kinid of : But then again I am the wimp who is scared of the BJMarketplace animals.

Diaper mamas, am I the only one who feels this way?

Do you mean the sig lines on here?

If so, I think that the WAHM pays for that advertising method, and font size is an option when developing that siggy, so if they want to make it larger to grab your attention, then so be it.

But that is just me.....

I agree. I am pretty sure there is a guideline to how large signatures can be, whether you're a wahm or just a mama on the boards.
I don't like the big ones at all!!!!

Right around the time i stopped posting at Babycenter, there were some banner ads being left in every post and that was really annoying--like a pop up ad or just any other advertisement that grabs your attention really suddenly or jarr-ingly (yes I make up words). I LOVE sig ad lines normally--especially when they're cute, colorful, witty, whatever. I have clicked on all of them and it's one of my favorite ways to know which MDC mamas are sewing what.... but please keep the size to a minimum so it doesn't pop out at you in an unpleasant way!

actually, youre not allowed to increase the font size.

"Signature Requirements:
*

Your signature text must keep within a 2 line limit, which means 2 lines including your personal information and business advertising information.* Be aware that a carriage return (keying the 'enter' button) for spacing makes a line.* Lines are counted in single spacing.

You may format your signature with the usage of colors, fonts, and smilies but please keep the font size at no larger than the default board text, size 2"

Yep, and they're breakin' the rules!

I think the rule was size 12 font or smaller? I dunno, but I remember reading it in my contract thingy.

Ok... I stand corrected!! Spoke before I read.

But I also don't want to underestimate the WAHM advertising dollars that are spent here.

Ok... I promise this is the last time I will post on this subject....

I think the smaller sig lines look nice. Understated and classy.

Does that make sense?

EXACTLY--understated, which makes me MORE interested in clicking on the link. I have never clicked on a huge, annoying link so obviously desperate for my attention, or a banner ad placed in a bulletin board post (not MDC), because i don't want to encourage it! It irks : me, so I get put off and avoid that business. I think those WAHMs should know that they are putting off customers rather than attracting (or maybe I'm the only one who behaves this way ).

There's a lot of things that bother me about this board. And, then there's a lot of things I like about this board. Font size is not something that bothers me.

Regardless of breaking rules, I guess I think there'd be a better way to bring this to the attention of the mods.

That's just my 2 cents that's all.

Shelly, I just shortened my huge signature...hope it's better now. (I didn't realize that non-biz sigs also had limits)

Ok ok what I am trying to say is on every monitor on every computer sig lines look different. Like for instance mine looks SUPER tiny where it is colored. But on others monitors it looked HUGE. For a very short time today it was set at a 5. Then I got kicked offline and had to keep working on it. Then I had it at a 3 and it looked very small. But I am sure on other computer it looks just fine. Just like yours may look like 3 lines to you, but to others it looks longer. How many lines is mine on your screen

I notice that about the lines being different on every computer too -- on my computer at home mine is like 1 1/2 lines and on my computer at work its like 2 1/2 lines so I never really know what others see it as. :

Oh but now yours is 2 lines and the last word is on the third line on my computer. Very tricky business!
