My 'up to 20 lbs' or so consists of about 24 pf, 8 fitteds, 12 covers (prowraps, cott'n wraps, sww, bummis) , 1 AIO, and about 8 doublers waiting to be serged~ does this count? ~ .

I'd still like about 6 pockets for nightime~ I used HappyHeinys almost excl. for nite with my others but...can anyone recommend a one size pocket that works well with pf for stuffing?

Yes, I'm a little diaper crazy .

I wash evry other day or so... I love washing dipes .
Does anyone else find even though they have enough stash for a great rotation they tend to use the same? I do that alot, I think its partially because I have favorites, but... :

I had a great large rotation with DS. I had tons of really cute covers 6 fuzzi bunz and 6 HH. I used the HH for night time. I found that I would wash my diapers once all my FB had gotten dirty and just kept using those over and over again. I finally sold all of my covers and just bought all fb

Ok, I was almost embarassed to say how many diapers we have, but reading some of these posts makes me nervous it won't be enough!

I will take photos later, when I have the complete stash IN MY HOUSE instead of some of it still at other people's houses and the store.

Well, first off, we're going to have between 65-75 diapers total.

But I'm going to have two in cloth. :

We tried potty learning a few weeks ago, but Boy is still only 21 months & the line from his brain to his, um, control mechanisms really does not work yet. Only now he's really aware of when he's in a non-clean diaper AFTER he soils it. So he goes through at least two at night and a freakish amount for a toddler during the day. I am expecting Baby to go through a ton as well, being a newborn and all. We were trying to go with a mix of economical, easy & cute for our stash, and I am happy with it because a lot of it is one-size diapers so they can share. So this is what it ended up looking like:

Diapers and covers:

13 Bum Genius One Size (these are the ONLY thing we've tried that my toddler doesn't leak through at night)

14 Fuzzi Bunz in Med & Large

10 prefolds

26 Mother Ease one size fitted diapers

8 or 10 Mother Ease Sandy's fitted diapers, x-small

(6 stay-dry liners and 15 regular liners for extra absorbancy in there)

4 x-small Mother Ease Rikki covers

4 large Bummis Super Whisper Wraps (in the froggy & jungle prints)

An assortment of random stuff that doesn't fit Boy and I'm not sure when it will fit Baby:

A medium-ish WHAM fitted

A medium-ish Swaddlebees

A small-medium Fuzzi Bunz

2 small (?) Kushies AIOs

I think that's it, haha. With this plan, we will only have to buy covers as the baby sizes up, and besides that we're done buying diapers, ever! (We'll see about that!)

I also have an assortment of wipes, there will be over 100 by the time I'm done working on the ones I'm making:

Gerber baby washclothes (two different types)--I never liked these for washcloths BTW

Two-sided black & flame print flannel

Two-sided blue plaid flannel

One-sided brown piasley-type-print flannel

One-sided blue with rubber duckies print flannel

Possibly some pink camo flannel wipes in case the baby's a girl? :

Turquoise terrycloth

(I am still tweaking my 'recipe' for whether I prefer the one sided or two sided, how I visually & practically like the hems stitched, and whether I like a smaller or larger size, rectangular or square. So my wipes are all varying sizes, thickness, shapes, etc. They all work, but I keep making a few one way and then putting them in with the rest to see how they measure up. )

Ok, really long post. I'm going to go hide now.

Someone talk to me about accessories!! Like I said, I've never cd'd a newborn before so I'm clueless here. I have 2 dozen wipes coming. Is that enough? What kind of lotion do I need? Wipes solution?

I have a big wetbag for the diaper pail, planning on getting some deodisks and finding my small wetbag. What about those matress protectors? I've been thinking about getting a couple to put under the sheet on my side of the bed. DS was sleeping in our bed earlier this week and had an accident and it was NOT a good thing. I really need something to protect our new bed.

I bought 5 small fb's to use at night. I have my 23 ks 0's, 5 infant pf's, 4 nb proraps and 3 stacinator fleece covers. I plan on getting more pf's to use as diapers and stuffing. Anything else?

Stacey, sounds like you are well set! The only thing I would add is MORE WIPES!!! You want no less than one per change and often times 2 - so I'd say have no fewer than 3-4 dozen. You'll use them forever and they are just indispensible!

As for wipes solution, you can do anything from plain warm water (what I did with my CD'd DS for most of his days) to buying one (I love the one sold by earthybabes.com!) to making your own (see the "Thanks!" thread for echospiritwarrior's recipe - I can't wait to try it!). I have really liked having something that's got a bit of disinfecting power to it as they've gotten older, but warm water actually can work just fine, too! Whatever you prefer and find the most fun!

I don't have a mattress protector, but have thought about it... Actually, I have one that's made for the crib but I haven't seen it in a while. I've been thinking about more natural ones but haven't made the decision to do it yet!

Anyhow, other than the wipes, you sound good to go! Yay!

I was approved for Miracle Diapers about a month ago and paid them and sent in my proof of financial status stuff about 3 weeks ago and am still waiting to see what I have from them. I have some materials here to make diapers, but I wanted to be sure of what I needed before I started making more and I have no idea what is coming. I do know its 24 of SOMETHING. I'm thinking that with the birth coming so quickly I'm going to have to just say screw it and start making whatever I can now and hope for the best.

I do have 2 or 3 infant wool covers though, since those are the easiest to knit while trying to figure out which design I like the most (I'm on a quest to make one of each free pattern and then find my favorite to make over and over for baby in each size - I'm in love with knitting these days!)

But I really dont know what I have atm. I have 4 gerber pins, 1 snappi, some infant, regular and toddler prefolds that I bought to resell (I have an online business selling cloth diapers, most its 99% drop ship stuff so its not like I have things in house that I could snag), and some small or newborn diapers that I got FFS but a lot of them dont have a soaker part in the middle, so not sure how they're going to work (they are like 2 layers of white cotton)...maybe w/ a soaker of some sort or over another fitted for extra absorbancy? I dunno.

I've been having fun, trying out free patterns, and some other patterns, and playing with PUL, Polar, Wool, Bamboo, etc...

Right now, I have

3 Shar's NB umbilical diapers
3 DD NB
2 NBFattyCakes pockets
1 NBFattyCakes fitted
I Polar cover pull-on

I'm a reseller for Happy Heiny and they just came out with a one size, that I've heard nothing but RAVE reviews about. They're literally flying off of all the shelves from the other retailers. (not me since I didnt have the funds to stock them and they take too long for me to order to drop ship them) They have a huge pocket like other HH's (my favorite thing about Happy Heinys actually) so would definitely work to stuff w/ prefolds. I wouldn't reccomend the patterned ones because if its like the other patterned HH's its a laminated cotton and is not as resistant for long periods (like overnight) although they are great for daytime use, but the solid colored ones are fantastic, and they last forever (some I have are loaners that were used by others before me).

Ok, I sorted out the diaps, and could use an opinion if this will be enough to start. We never used our NB sized, they were passed along to us, so I've just been keeping them till we needed them, no idea how they'll work or if there are enough. These are all NB sized ReUz'ems AIO 19 7 covers 2 fitted 1 wool longie (so cute, this fit my ds3 at when we first started, might not fit at first, but I left it out, it was just to cute to pack back up lol) 16 prefolds (not sure if premie or nb sized) tons of 'normal' sized prefolds Does this seem like enough? Geez, I hope so, I just hate the idea of buy stuff that will only fit such a short time. Thanks!

My newborn used about 12 diapers a day so I think you have plenty to do a wash every 3rd day which is what I think the goal is. I wouldn't want to wait longer than 3 days or do laundry more often. I would grab a few snappis and of course wet bag and cloth wipes.

Thanks! As long as I can find 'em I should be good for all the 'accessory' stuff (course, not sure where all that stuff is, but it's here somewhere lol) I feel better now though, thanks

Oh, I also want to add that we invested in the mini shower for spraying off dipes this time around! How excited am I! *grin*

To the PPs: I like the Bum Genius one size pocket diapers for night. My toddler pees through anything else. (The Fuzzi Bunz would be fine, but we have trouble getting a good fit in the legs and the waist) I have had no trouble with the BGs. I am going to try using the fitteds & covers at night for the baby and if they don't do well, we'll use the BGs at night for him/her as well.

I didn't start CDing DS1 until he was about 3 months and he was easily 16 pounds by then so my smallest dipes from him are currently 14 or so FB Mediums. They're in great shape, and all white so easy to use this time but I"ve had to build my newborn/ small stash from start. DS1 was 9 pounds so I'm not too worried about smalls not fitting for long.

I have about 6 kissaluvs fitteds 0s
3 kissaluvs contours in NB
12 small new FBs
20 or so CPF
3 wool soakers
1 BG AIO
1 BG pocket one size
1 Under the Nile small fitted
2 snappis
20 microfiber towels

Two questions: Has anyone used microfibers exclusively on a newborn under a wrap? They seem so much more trim than a big CPF. Also, when making your own wipes, do you just cut flannel and use or do you serge or seam the edges first?

I'm going to wait until we find out the gender once baby is here to order some more gender specifics.

You can use microfiber under a wrap but you need something between the baby's skin and the microfiber because it will suck all the moisture out of the skin. Microfiber is good to use in a pocket or wrapped up in a prefold for this reason. I think it depends on the baby and what brand of insert you use as to whether it would work on a newborn or not. Microfiber doesn't absorb as fast and that has been my only problem. Also with my wipes (the only thing I've ever made on my serger) I cut the flannel into manageable squares and then serge those into wipes.

I have lots of catching up to do, but I hope to review all my WAHM dipes on there. Sort of an illustration of how much variety is available.

0o0o0o0o0o0o, pretty!! Where's the drooling icon?? Are those are just random fitteds?? How did you pick? My nb fitteds consist solely of ks 0's since I got them for a steal..

I had one more question..What diaper cream won't stain cd's?
