Diaperbag HELP~

Okay I need a new diaperbag....I have been avoiding this for a long long while, but it is coming down too it, I need one. I can't afford $100 (or even $50) for a new diaperbag so I can't do the PPB or anything like that. (no matter how I love them) I would make one myself but I can't seem to find a good pattern I like enough.

So that said, I had a lands end diaper bag (big one, don't know what it is called) but while it was plenty roomy the zipper only went across the top and frankly it was hard to open wide enough to see in well. We went on a trip and went swimming, my DH put a wet swim diaper in the pocket and didn't tell me....needless to say the whole thing stinks like mildew now. I am going to try and wash it in the washing machine, but I am not sure it will make much difference, not to mention I am not that in-love with it to spend a ton of time saving it.

So does anyone know of a similar type diaper bag that is better? Lands end has some that are nice, but well I want someone with experience to tell me these aren't hard to get into! I have three kids that are always needing me to carry their life around, I need a BIG bag for all that stuff plus my beautiful cloth diapers ya know? I am searching around, but my total needs to be less than $50. OR if anyone knows of a bag pattern that is reasonable I would make my own, I am a wee bit handy with making stuff. Thanks! ~

I have an Eddie Bauer (I think its called the Weekender) from BRU that is pretty nice and big, opens nice and wide on the top. I think it was only around $30-35. I don't know of any patterns, but I remember reading a thread about them in the Sewing & Crafts forum...you should also post there to ask about good patterns.

Good Luck
Did you go see the new simplicity catalog...I love the bags in there..Honest...and the pattern can cost you around 1.99 if its on sale. I got it at walmart for $5.00 and im dying to make it...There are a whole bunch of different styles and since its a pattern you can alter it way easy...

I just got back from walmart, I saw the patterns there, I found a few I loved, however they are priced at about $14-$15 each! I mean geesh with that and the materials to make it I could buy one already made! I thought making stuff was supposed to be cheaper!~

I don't know which Land's End bag you have, but we have this one (along with another one) and love it! : http://www.landsend.com/cd/fp/prod/0...56005335129100

It's HUGE, so it can carry lots of stuff, plus the zippered compartments zip open really well and LARGE.
I have a plain black diaper bag from Carter's. I got it at their outlet, you could buy it for 20.00 if you purchased like 50.00 in clothes. I've had it over a year now and LOVE it!!!!
Are you sure that the pattern was $15? WalMart sells all their patterns for 1/2 of the marked price, as do Joanns and Hancocks.

You can find sales on the weekends at both of the fabric stores for at least one brand of pattern.....usually 99 ¢ or 1.99. I agree with Liya, the new Simplicity ones are nice........I bought a couple myself.
Ebay is a good option for Cheaper diaper bags. Some of handmade ones are not extremely spendy and you can get Lands End bags for a song over there. I have a friend who just got a really nice ( slightly used) lands end DIA for under 10.00. I have a diaper bag collection ... currently my favorites are my Sally Spicer and my Lands end Tote
I just bought a backpack that had all the right pockets for what I wanted. Outer velcro closing pockets for easy access to keys, cell phone & sunglasses. Outer pocket the right size for holding a sippy cup. Room enough inside for changing pad and all of our necessities. I found a super cute Paul Frank "Julius" one on eBay and I think I paid about $20 for it!!! It's far cuter than any real diaper bag I've seen.
I have a plain black one from Target. It was not in the baby section, it was in the accessory section. Its the type the criss crosses across your chest and is easy to carry and have free hands and easy to get into to. It was only 18 bucks but that was 3 weeks before he was born so a lil over a year ago.
I use this Guatemalan Bag... It's huge enough w/ lots of pockets and a zippered top.

The Land's End bag has changed, and now is a wide-mouth type bag.

I personally prefer smaller bags, mine is often mistaken for a purse. I use a Nine West bag I picked up at TJ Maxx, or the Lands End Day Tripper (the little one).
We have a lands end do it all and it is great. normally only use it for trips though. I have a kenneth cole city scene for everyday use. I would NOT buy it again though. Dh got it for me for $50 from right start, on sale from $80. It just hasn't held up well, and in hindsight I need a few outside pockets like for my cell phone.

I like the look of the gap ones and they always go on sale on their website. Good luck!
