Hi there.
I've been using fuzzi bunz diapers. On and off for the past few months DS would get a rash. The only way I could get rid of it was with a cream. I would put a disposable on him if I had one. Sometimes I didn't and had to use the FB.
Last month, the rash was more like big pimples. It just so happened we were at the peds' office and the dr. took a look. He was a bit concerned.. he thought it looked a bit like herpes. He told me to keep and eye on it and use A&D or Desitin. So I bought some disposables, use the diaper creams and it went away. In the meantime, I stripped the fuzzi bunz. Then we traveled for the holiday, so I stuck to the throw aways.
When we came home, I started DS in the FB's again. Here and there, a rash would show up again... just a normal looking rash. I stripped the diapers again and he still seems to be getting some sort of redness. This morning it was really bad. Very red and clusters of pimples. I don't have any throw aways, so I put some cream on with the FB.
Could it be the Fuzzi Bunz? I haven't been using any detergent of any sort. They do smell like amonia after they have been used. I was using some vinager for the smell with the cold rinse cycle but I stopped doing that.
TIA for any insight you might have.

Ya know, my lil guy seems to have constant rash too. But I've come to the conclusion that its not from the diapers, but from not having cream on. My DS will do fine in sposies IF hes slathered up w/ vaseline, if not, then he still gets a rash. I've been sticking a washcloth on the diaper so he can wear his cloth and be covered in cream. I'm thinking about getting some flushable liners to use instead of the washcloth though, that will prob. eliminate extra wetness, and you can still use whatever cream....

Well, I think I figured out that the rash earlier this week may have been food related, as DH fed DS a bar with walnut in it. Not that he has a history of nut allergies, it was the only thing that he eat that was different.

3lil': thanks for the washcloth idea. It reminded me that I had some thin washable wipes that came with my FB and I never use them. So I put those on top so I could use cream this week.

The rash has cleared up BUT there are a few lingering blisters. Any idea what I should put on them????

my son got a rash like this from using synthetic micro type diapers.

From this experience I advocate natural fibers for diapers.
Synthetics work for many people and any cloth is better than no cloth, but for us the brand mentioned would not have been successful due to the inner lining.

Maybe instead of the cream you could put a "cotton or non synthetic" trifold & lay into the FB and see if that exclusive area begins to clear. It could or could not yield a pattern of where the contact problem may be.

Just a suggestion.

When my DD was born we had an entire stash of FB and she had HORRIBLE RASHES! So much that we gave up cloth diapering for a while. Then I tried other diapers- and NO RASH. Actually I really think the fleece of FB just hold onto residues and give horrid rashes. NO FUZZIBUNZ FOR ME EVER AGAIN! Even BG's worked okay for us... even though it was synthetic fiber it just didn't seem to irritate so much. My best bet, though, were cotton prefolds or bamboo, especially if you think it could be a synthetic fibers sensitivity.

If you need to use a diaper cream you could get those disposible diaper liners to protect your diapers from the cream, but still use them. That's what we always did. I heard a baby wash cloth works well as a liner as well.

Good luck!! I tried everything... switching detergents (to Charlies... bad idea!), stripping the diapers, rash cream... it wasn't until I switched diapers that we saw relief!
