Alright, so the discomfort from my diastasis recti (separation of the abdominal muscles) was getting bad so I started wearing more support. It totally fixed the pain problem. Now I think that the tightness might have caused or is aggravating what might be a vulvar variscosity. The only place I found info on VVs so far is WTEWYE and it says to avoid tight belts and maternity girdles, etc.

So, if I have to pick something uncomfortable just to live with... which thing will cause fewer long term issues? DR or VV?

Well... Diastasis recti can only really be "fixed" after the baby is born, and generally it is pretty easy to do so (exercises and such). Whereas varicosities of any variety tend to be harder to treat once the damage is done...
But I'm sure I've seen support girdle type things *for* vulval varicosities... They are of a different variety than those for DR. check into those.
I don't quite understand why belly support of any variety would worsen VV...

I have to voice my distaste for "What to Expect..." I've seen those books lead too many people astray.

Yeah, I know. I hate it but none of my "good" pregnancy books had anything on it.

I think that tight stuff like maternity girdles make it worse because they restrict the blood flow when it's returning from the extremities. Also, this is my 3rd pregnancy and I've never, ever had a variscosity anywhere until the week I started wearing this support set up.

Heh, I wonder if I could double the VV support and the DR support... I already feel like a geisha getting dressed; I can't imagine how inconvenient that would all be!

And, damn, would I be hot in those or what! I'll just pair them with a colorful tee shirt and hit the town.... No but seriously, maybe some that I've got around here already might work underneath regular clothes. I'll try it!

I had VV and a belly support garment helped (I liked Belly Bra) as well as pevlic rocks (hands and knees). Thankfully, the issue resolved after giving birth.
