<p>Hi<br>
I'm a 48 old woman and i had hypertension for more than a year and a half.<br>
I've been taking atenor(atenolol) and aspegic daily since then as prescribed by my doctor<br>
lately I heard that lot of people used kefir and got very good results<br>
My question is: did anyone try it if so did you stop your medication and used kefir or did you use it at the same time<br>

<p>My husband (age 27 and heavy, different situation from yours) had luck regulating his high bp with healthy food and small portions, some weight loss, and a vitamin, herb, and amino acid supplement for heart health. Once his blood pressure got well into the normal range every day even if he forgot his pill he discontinued the Linisopril he was on (he discussed the plan with his dr who advised him with the end goal of discontinuing meds). It's now up to the high end of normal 130/85 but nowhere near the 180/110 it was at its worst. From what I read about research on kefir the effects on bp are slight if any for most, but does no harm and it does help the gut, sounds like it can be a fine part of healthy living to combat hypertension.</p>

<p>Well I have looked into it some to help my husband out. What's your current diet like overall? Exercise? Cholesterol level? Are you at a good weight level? What about stress, salt intake, alcohol? I know age is a factor but there are so many other contributors.</p>

<p>I eat 3 meals a day</p>
<p>in breakfest i take a cup of coffee</p>
<p>lunch it varies from day to day but rich in vegetables beans fruits and small portions meat (once a week)</p>
<p>dinner depends too sometimes i'm up for a heavy meal sometimes just salad</p>
<p>no salt for all the above</p>
<p>I don't exercice</p>
<p>my cholesterol level is fine</p>
<p>I'm overweight</p>
<p>i don't use alcohol</p>
<p>i have some problems in dealing with stress</p>

<p>Pretty similar to my dh then. What he did was have a larger, healthy meal for breakfast so he's have energy for the day and cut the size of dinner. He started walking 1-2 miles a day for a while. We try to get the best quality meats and dairy we can (pastured meats, raw milk for a while). He made sure he only had a small cup of coffee when it was at its worst. I can't remember the kind of supplement he took but it had vitamins, hawthorn, amino acids, and some other things and they recommended it at Rainbow Blossom. He only stopped the pharma meds after the level was well normalized for a while because his blood pressure was at extremely dangerous levels and he needed it to go down right away.</p>
