Hello everyone.

I have a question.. I read that caffein reduces our chances of conceiving. Of course I want to do everything in my power to make this work, I eat well and dont smoke and hardly drink already... but the caffein thing is a bust so far ! I dont have alot... a big cup in the morning thats all usually... Now I reduced to half a cup with MUCHO milk... and I am absolutely miserable (its been only 2 days...). I was just wondering if any of you stopped caffein... and if you know if something will help !

Yes. I didn't think of it til right after I insemmed actually, though. I used to drink a bodum of coffee/day! Now I'm down to one cup, sometimes two. I read that it is more than two cups/day that can adversely affect ttc, so you are fine IMO!

I didn't cut it completely out but I did cut back quite a bit. I don't think a little coffee in the morning would hurt. I still had my coffee, a cup or two, but cut out all soda and tea.

I cut it almost entirely. I sneak a half cup of coffee maybe 1 or 2 days a week and maybe some chocolate 1 time a week. My midwife said that a cup of coffee plus a soda a day shouldn't hurt TTC chances. She did suggest cutting it out after conceiving. It's associated with low birth weight and ADD.

I'm not a coffee drinker, but I continued to drink tea while TTC. I had maybe 2-3 cups of green tea a day - the equivalent of about 1-1.5 cups of coffee. I'm also extremely sensitive to caffiene, if I were to drink two cups of green tea in a row I'd be bouncing off the walls (or scrubbing floors, as was the case last time).

I cut way down on caffeine when we were TTC. However I drank a cup of coffee every morning. But that was really it.

I cut it out entirely, but more so because I wanted to quit smoking and the nicotine and caffeine have a special bond, difficult to break. Having an addictive personality I wanted to cleanse my body and enter TTC completely vice free--Now TTC and MDC are my only obsessions--

If you are only drinking one cup a day I'm sure it will be fine, But if you want some pointers? I used to pop out of bed, get dressed and go for a brisk walk right away. I started this routine in Dec in Massachusetts so the cold air would wake me right up. At the end of my walk I would accelerate to the fastest I could walk to really get my heart and adrenaline pumping. This routine definitely helped me to 1)wake up, 2)develop a new morning routine, 3)still get that rush (without the nicotine and caffeine)

A great replacement is roasted dandelion root. It makes a nice dark roasted smoky tea that kinda-sorta-not really-but we can convince ourselves-it is close to the real deal type of warm liquid to drink ritualistically

I'm not a coffee drinker but was a BIG diet coke drinker. I cut out the caffiene late last year sometime and switched to decaf diet coke and mostly water for my beverages. I'll have a caf beverage every once in a while if we go out to eat but that's maybe 1-2 a week. I figure I want all the help I can get and it's might be in that can't hurt category.

I wasn't drinking coffee, anyway, when we were ttc, but I eliminated caffeinated sodas while we were ttc and if I'd have gotten pregnant, I wouldn't have started drinking them again while pregnant.

Oh geeeez. I think I drank MORE coffee when first inseminated, and never really cut it out through pregnancy either. The child came out extremely calm. Who woulda thunk it.

I had a major caffeine habit - coffee all morning and switching to Diet Coke at lunchtime. I stopped all caffeine before TTC - it took me about a month to wean myself.

I slowly reintroduced small amounts after my babe was about 6 months old - she's still breastfeeding. I have to say I feel better for having decreased my consumption.

I tried but the headache killed me. I only drink 1 cup a day and I've been keeping it small.

This morning however, I couldn't drink it because it smelt like dirty dish water to me. At 10dpo, I'm taking it as a sign

Also - I drink a little bit of tea but have been going mostly with herbal and I don't drink softdrink. I do eat chocolate but barely enough to register.

I cut it out entirely. But I know plenty of people who have gotten pregnant drinking 2+ cups of coffee a day!

I did not have an aversion to coffee while pregnant. I didn't drink any, but it smelled fabulous, and I did give into my coffee ice cream craving every so often.

I am still pretty much caffeine free now (chocolate and coffee ice cream aside), and my baby is 9+ months old. I get addicted to coffee very quickly once I start drinking it, so I'm trying not to go there.
