I had a homebirth 8 weeks ago and I feel great. I was suppose to have a six week visit with my midwife two weeks ago, but she's an hour away and it feels so unnecessary and like such a big inconvenience, long way to drive with three kids for what? I don't need a pap yet.... I already scheduled and canceled once. What have you done? Did you do a postpartum visit week later or did you skip? What did your midwife check and do? We already did THREE postpartum visits after the birth within the first 2 weeks so I feel like I have had closure with them and everything....

I didn't have a homebirth, but I've never gone to a post partum visit. I always thought I would go if I felt like I had a question or concern, but I haven't. Seemed like a waste of money and time for me. I did see the mw after my twins (at about 2 weeks) because of a concern but that was it.

I had a six week visit, but it was mostly just to see my midwife (who I love) and hang out for an hour.
She did give me a pap and I think we had to re-do DD's PKU. She checked my tear and gave me the all clear. I think the visit was more for me than the baby.
If you feel like you don't need one and it's an inconvenience for you, I'd just give your midwife a call and say "I think we're cool...".

I did -- I had some major questions/misgivings about my stitches, and needed them looked at. Plus, I like hanging out with my midwife. And my 6 week postpartum visit was a good thing; we talked over the birth one more time and processed it a bit and then talked about some overall health stuff. I was glad for the closure of my birthing experience as well.

I did, but I also had a tear and stitches I wanted her to look at. They weren't healed all the way so I came back at 9 weeks pp too. I really enjoyed talking about my birth at that time with my MW and baby stuff, etc.

I didn't go for mine with the first one, but I did for the second baby. It was just for the birth certificate requirement in that state though.

Plus I wanted my tear checked out to make sure everything was healing well.

i combined it with my yearly and got a pap/breast exam etc too.

Yep - I went to mine. I had a small, unstitched tear I wanted checked to make sure everything had healed normally. However, I had no internal exam, and don't do PAP smears until I am at least six months post-partum.

Sure, why not? It was good to get out of the house alone and I had an early morning appt. I left dd sleeping with dh in bed and returned home to find them both still asleep. I got a PAP because I was due for one and had refused all internals during my pregnancy. I also had a pretty bad tear that had been stitched and was curious what my OB thought about it. It was nice to hear that I'd healed perfectly.

My midwife came to me for our 6 week visit. No pap or exam, just talked for about an hour about how things were going. I enjoyed my time with her.

my midwife comes to me too - but we couldn't get it together for the 6 wk until about 8 or 9 wks! She just palpated my uterus and checked my nipples, and that was it. She would have done a vaginal but I didn't feel I needed it. I knew my tears were healed just fine.... It would not have been a big deal if it had never happened.

I had a UC, so no. I did the follow up visit w/ my 1st (hospital birth) and didn't think it was anything necessary.

I went to mine (also over an hour away). DD and DH came too. They MWs did a pap and we talked about how things were going. It was really nice to spend the time with the MWs. We felt kind of sad that we got so close to them and once the baby's born we'll only run into them occasionally. We had gotten into the habit of going to this great Mexican restaurant on the way home for our prenatal appointments, so we used the 6-week visit (which was actually more like 8 weeks) as an excuse to go there again.

I went to both of mine and will go to the next one. Only I don't have a 6 week check. I have a 2 week check and an 8 week check. I didn't have any tears or problems, but went anyhow.
