With my other two I was not in tune enough with myself, and certainly not them, to be able to pick something like this up. This time, however, I have picked up all sorts of stuff, including that I am almost positive he's a boy, and I had some sounds for a name but just recently put them together. It is a real name, but definately different (made the top 1000 in 1910, lol). I don't get a gut "this is it" reaction, but the name also will not leave me. I'm afraid to mention it to dh though because I know he's going to think I'm nuts (dd is Elyse and he thought that was too weird at first, until he gave up of course <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink"> ).<br><br>
So anyway, anyone gotten the name from your babe before he/she was born?

i didn't think of it at the time but in retrospect i think that he did. i was just driving down the road one day and it came to me like someone told me. then i attributed it to just being me thinking of a goog name, but it is possible that ds told me. it is not a name that i have ever heard before or seen in any name books.

I still feel silly telling the story because it seems so ridiculous, but it did truly happen. When I was 5 weeks pregnant with my last baby, I had a very clear dream about him, although he was a her!!<img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> But "she" was telling me her name was Xeowyn ("ZAY-oh-win"), & explained how to pronounce it AND spell it, all in my dream! It was so bizarre. I told dh about, we tossed around other names over the months but that one really stuck. So we decided whether it was a girl or boy (but I was sure it was a girl!) the name would be Xeowyn. Well, HE came out being a boy, but he is absolutely Xeowyn, I can't imagine another name being his. I plan to ask him someday why he was a girl in all my pregnancy dreams...... LOL.<br><br>
And now with this pregnancy, dh has actually said that he thinks the baby will tell me its name again in a dream. HAHA! That'd be nice!! But it hasn't happened, & we are totally clueless about names. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/rolleyes.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="rolleyes"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngtongue.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Stick Out Tongue">

I kept seeing the word "Phoenix" all over the place. My hangout in Dublin was Phoenix Park and when I got back stateside, all the public buses were plastered with signs offering reduced fares to Phoenix, AZ, and then the Phoenix construction company was paving the stret in front of my house. I just knew it had to be her name, even if she was a boy. I'd never heard of that word used as a name before, but I never even considered anything else.<br><br>
It made the top 100 BOY'S names in 2000, but I was pretty sure I was having a girl and she was born in 1987.

Only time will tell since I'm only 6 weeks pregnant (tomorrow). It's not me that knows the name but ds. The last two times people have asked about the baby he has said, "if it's a boy his name will be Ryan." Well, as far as I know, ds has never heard that name before. We don't know anyone with that name, there are no kids at the park with that name, there are no characters that he knows of with that name. It's got me wondering.

Thanks everyone, I feel a bit less crazy now, lol! I told the little guy that if he DOES want that as a name he's going to have to work on his daddy, because I can hear dh's reaction now! I'm still not totally sure, but I really can't think of ANY other name that even semi sounds good. So we'll sit with it for awhile, we certainly have time!<br><br><div style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px;">

I know someone who "knew" her baby was a boy, until the u/s said she was a girl, lol. The mom said it was because the baby had been male in the most recent past life. She also picked up other stuff that turned out to be true, so who knows? (And very cool story by the way, thanks for sharing!)

My BF knew her babe was a girl, from the very beginning, and even after the u/s said she was a boy. She held onto the name she had always known would be her daughters name. And everyone bought her baby boy clothes. Then she had the baby and it was a GIRL!!! No problem finding a name at all!!! (^_^)<br><br>
My second had her name from the very beginning too. I hadn't chosen it before preg. or anything. It just was there and stayed. No discussion. I already knew and DH went with it. Very smart of him! (^_~) *lol*

My yet-to-be-conceived, and probably won't be conceived for a few years (there's a little boy who is ahead of her in line <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Wink">), has made it very clear that her name is Eleanor. I didn't even really like the name, had NEVER thought of naming a child that, but...she won't let it go. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"> If I even start thinking of baby names, Eleanor pops up everywhere.

The day after I found out this baby was a boy, a name popped into my head... a name I had never considered before. And it has stuck.

With DS, I had a dream (at around 8 months pg) in which I just KNEW what his name was supposed to be, and that's what we named him.

I always felt my first would be a boy... Ever since I was little I had a boy doll and everything. I considered that he might be a girl though - and told my DH that my first words to a daugher would have been "Wow - you surprised everyone!"<br><br>
For some reason most people agreed with me.<br><br>
As for my future daughter's name... It's weird - I had this name I used as a pseudonym as a teen... One day, before we were even engaged or had really considered such things, my DH stepped out of the shower and asked "If we have a daughter, can we name her X?" and I said. "yes..." because it was that name that I had always felt strongly about.<br><br>
And that was that - he won't consider another name so I know we will have a daughter of that name... eventually.

When we started to decide the next baby's name would be James Richard, our son Everett adamantly disagreed. He said, "No, it's baby Rocket!" I thought it was cute and funny, but Everett has persisted in his insistence on baby's name being Rocket. It's starting to grow on Jamie and I, but we're not going to put Rocket on his birth certificate. Maybe it will be nickname though.

I have a friend who was certain her baby gave her his name (Jackson) and the same day she got the name, she told her parents in law and her mother in law had come up with the same name that morning. It had just popped into her head while she was housekeeping . . .<br><br>
Now, before we found out we were pregnant, my daughter told me that she would have a little brother soon named . . . and poured out a series of syllables I couldn't duplicate much less remember. I asked her to repeat herself and she did but it didn't help. But whatever he's calling himself, I tend to believe that he's a boy.
