I just got a Moby Wrap today in the mail... and I love it! It looks so complicated, but lugging around my (guessing) 27lb "little" boy felt like nothing. I see the Ultimate Baby Wrap and the Didymos (sp?) and the Rebozos... what is the difference between them all? They all look like a long strip of fabric that you wrap around yourself and tie in different configurations. And it looks like a heck of a lot of money for a long strip of fabric... I know I must be missing something... Thanks for any insight! =)

Is there no discernable difference? 30 people have peeked at this question, but no one's said anything. Am I really dense for even asking or have other people wondered the same thing? =)

I have a rebozo, and an extra long rebozo on the way. I don't "own" a long sling till the mail gets here, but from the research I've done, this is the difference: FABRIC!

Yes, you can buy fabric and tie it yourself, but it isn't the same. Bulk fabric does not have the same stretchy weave to it and doesn't give the same kind of support. Girasol and Didymos have diagonal weaves that accomodate the baby the best.

Didymos is so expensive because it is made with organic fibers and is specially dyed in non-pollutant dyes which are then recycled. They are made locally (in close proximity to the company in Germany). So the $ goes to the cause. Also, they've been doing it for 25 years and have a VERY good quality product.

Girasol is similar but not as eco-friendly and the fabric selection is not as beautiful, IMO.

Extra Long Rebozo is also made with quality fibers and has a good weave. Women have been using these for centuries (the shorter ones at least). I*LOVE* my shorter rebozo and wouldn't trade it for anything. It is beautiful, versitile, and the fabric is amazing. It is real thin but durable, breathable, and it stretches to fit ds's body instead of those thick ring slings that are almost like canvas.

All of these are a woven piece of fabric made for slinging. Hope that helps. But I'd love to hear from someone who owns and uses these already!!
