I've had a yeast infection for about 5 weeks now. I recently tried to treat it myself with OTC Monistat 7 and had what I can only imagine to be an allergic reaction to this medication. Today my OB doctor gave me a prescription for Diflucan. I am supposed to take one pill today, skip two days, then take the other pill. I am 28 weeks pregnant. My doctor says there are no risks to the baby, but I don't trust doctors. Anyone have any experience or knowledge in taking Diflucan during pregnancy?

but i've always had great luck with acidopholis...have you tried that route yet?

i've always had an abundence of yeast in my body, so i took diflucan only once, and got very ill w/ flu like symptoms because of the toxins the yeast releases while killing it. TMI....just thought i'd share why i stick with acidopholis.

A quick search on safefetus.com says it's shown adverse fetal effects at high doses in animal studies with no particular human studies having been made to confirm or rebut that finding, and no effects named at all at lower doses. For whatever that's worth.

I took it once during my third trimester of my first pregnancy, like you I had had a yeast infectioin that lasted months and was unable to get rid of it with a change in diet, natural remedies or over the counter remedies I was prescribed one dose of diflucan and I haven't had a yeast infection since (this was 11 years ago)
