digesting food?

Warning, possibly TMI. Don't want to gross anyone out.
Hey there. I am wondering if anyone else is having this. I am having a really hard time trying to digest food.
I have wicked heartburn, first off, but then also burp lots, and the food just sits in my stomach, until I am sick.
Last night I ate a very small dinner, had heartburn and generally a really bad nights sleep, and threw up everything that I ate last night this morning.
This happened the night before also, but it was all over myself.
Oh the joys!
Today I have eaten bread and pretzels and apple juice. The thought of anything else is too much.

Anyone else experienced this at all?

That happened to me last week.

I ate 2 bowls of cereal before bed. and woke up feeling like I was going to throw up and I did!!!!!!!!! I was shocked! I overate.

So my midwife suggested taking a pepcid (pill type) once a day (I take it after supper) and just eating smaller meals and snacks. I haven't thrown up again, and I don't feel like I am eating enough, but I guess I am. I also avoid eating right before bed too.

Hope it doesn't happen again!!!
So sorry that happened, it is such an awful feeling.
I am definately not overeating. The food just sits there, in my stomach, all night.

I am taking zantac, and acid reducer and heartburn reliever, but I still get heartburn slightly with it, so I can't imagine what it would be like if I was not taking anything.

Oh well, not long to go now. Just hope it doesn't last for the rest of the pregnancy!
I have been *thisclose* to throwing up So. Many. Times. from heartburn. It's ri.freakin.diculous. But I have this weird thing with puking and pretty much can count on one hand the number of times I've EVER thrown up (no matter how bad it gets).

I don't eat before bed. I eat papaya enzymes like they're Cadbury Mini Eggs (lol.. that means.. um.. way too many) and still it's miserable.

And.. I'll up the ante on sharing too much.... I don't burp much.. instead.. the gas comes out the OTHER end. *sigh* ... I think that's way worse (and more embarrassing).. ugh... yeah.. pregnancy has such a glamourous side...
I'm with you. The last few nights I've skipped dinner altogether because it keeps me up most of the night nauseated
before that I had a blueberry muffin for dinner once and still was sick most of the night! I hate this! Food is the enemy. If I don't eat my blood sugar crashes through the floor and I get super shaky and ill. If I do eat I just get sick for hours and hours. I'm less constipated now than I have been for 7 months, but still feel horribly bloated and miserable most of the time. I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and oooh lord can't wait to get to the end of this and feel normal again!

The zantac might be reducing your stomach acid in a way that is keeping your body from digesting food correctly? Make sure you're taking it according to directions (an hour before eating, I believe?)

My heartburn went away for a while, but it's come back now. I was sort of shocked... i carry so far forward i just didn't expect to have these problems, but yeah. And it seems when I over-eat, i get those I-can't-breathe, shortness-of-breath, panic attack kinds of things. That's always fun, though I haven't thrown up (thankfully!)

I've never had this happen to me before in either of my other pregnancies...
Lunita - The zantac that I have is the twice a day kind, so I try to work it out where I only take it once a day, and so the HB doesn't wake me up at night, but you have a really valid point. I should try it before bfast and before dinner, and see how that is. Any way I do feel better today. Maybe I had a slight case of norovirus that seems to be going around here like wildfire. GROSS!!!

Judy - Yum, mini eggs!!! Now that would not sit well

And the gas, oh yeah. The other day we had a septic explosion here, and the septic guy came up from the basement, I turned around and let some gas pass. Totally ignored it of course, but was dying laughing inside. How chic am I!!!

I think all zantac is labelled that way -- no more than twice a day, 30-60 mins. before eating. I tried taking it only once a day , but it really works much better if taken before breakfast and dinner. The only times I've woken up in the middle of the night to throw up were when I forgot to take it in the evening, I think? Or maybe I took it RIGHT before bed, long after eating or something? I still have morning sickness in the morning, but it is dry heaves because my stomach is empty. (TMI?)
