Heading off tomorrow for a yoga workshop with grandma and babe in tow. Three days here and then to sis's for another three. Want to cd while away - at least as long as my stash holds out. Will be able to do laundry at sis's but until then... any good around the house kind of solutions? no extra cash to buy wet bag etc... I'm thinking garbage bag - but don't want the car to stink to high heaven in this heat! I know this is last minute - forgot about this part til today

Hi! I think if I were you I would go with garbage bag (s) and perhaps wrap the diapers in plastic store bags first just to help keep the smell in check. You could rinse the just pee diapers in the sink to remove some of the pee before storage so that the smell isn't as bad, and of course get as much poop off before storage too. Good luck.

Before I saw no money I was going to suggest a camping supply store to get a "dry" bag used to store things on canoe trips in case of dumping in the river. This worked wonderfully as a "wet" bag when we were away for a week at my aunts without our pail!

We actually have one of these - but papa is going canoeing for father's day and I'd like to let him take it cause when the boys get together somebody usually gets wet. LOL. I like the idea of double/triple wrapping - thanks! ggma
I always sprinkle some Tea Tree Oil or lemongrass oil on a wash cloth and toss it in the bag to cover the STINK!
Actually I prefer lemongrass - tto reminds me of pepto bismol - bleech!
You're probably going to think this is gross, but when we travel, I leave my wet diapers (the ones with PUL outers) in my cargo net for a while. It doesn't stink and they get a chance to air dry a little bit before I put them in a plastic bag. That really cuts down on the stink level. Dirty dipes and prefolds get tied up right away in shopping bags from the grocery store.
oooh hannahmom I love the lemongrass idea! I'm pretty sure I've got some here to use too... thanks, ggma
If you have some ziplock bags, you can put each single diaper in a bag and zip it up.
I was gonna say use ziplock bags...put into a larger bag of some sort also

WOOT, cool idea. Going away for 2 days to my cusions gradution party and we have one of those camping wet bags. But this will make it smell way less. Thanks idea!

I just use a bunch of the cheap grocery bags. I put each dipe in a separate bag and twist it up securely. Then put them all in another bigger bag. It pretty much keeps the stink at bay.
Well, in case anyone was wondering, cding while traveling went well. I tried almost all the sugg. Ziplocks were the best at cutting stink. However, I didn't have that many (good reason to save used ones that I don't want to put food in) so I used plastic grocery bags as well and when you twist em up good... no problemo! The lemongrass was a nice touch - but I didn't find it that necessary cause everything was so well wrapped. Felt a wee bit bad about all the plastic so I put a couple dipes in each grocery bag and this felt much better inside. Thanks again to all helpers.
