I just wanted to let everyone here know that Amanda Baggs has the most recent Disability Blog Carnival up on her site here. And yes, I actually have a couple of posts that made it into the carnival--so a bit of this is shameless self-promotion!

The concept of the carnival is basically a selection of posts from the disability blogosphere, which can include disabled people themselves, parents, caregivers, professionals, etc. I think a lot of the moms here might enjoy some of the posts in this month's carnival--the theme was "boxes," referring to the boxes physically/developmentally/cognitively disabled people feel they get placed into. The theme for the next Disability Blog Carnival will be "firsts," and a specific request was made to hear more voices from the parent/caregiver community. That's you guys!

Thanks for posting this. I read parts of it--very interesting to me. The discussion of boxes was great because it offered a way of framing one of the downsides of labels. I tend to be a black and white, label type person. But I can see with DS that right now the labels don't quite fit. And in some ways, I think that has been good because everyone (including me) has been forced to look at him as an individual.

I appreciate the link!
