I bought some hemp fitted diaps on ebay. I am shocked at how hard they are to get on (with matching up snaps and all) and that they are far LESS absorbant than the regular ubcpf I normally use. I thought that I was missing out on something by using only prefolds. I didnt have a ton of money to get started with and now I am glad I didnt. I wouldnt have grown to love the ubcpf as I have.

Hmmm. Did you wash them several times in REALLY hot water? Hemp needs several washings to reach maximum absorbancy.

I'm glad you love your cpfs, though--I love mine too.

Aw, I'm glad you are loving your prefolds! So many mamas her love prefolds too.

Do you know what kind of diapers you got on eBay? Not all fitted diapers are created equal and some mamas here have gotten some really shoddy dipes from eBay.

Yes, some fitteds are a lot easier to get on than others. I love my prefolds, too! They are great. There are some really nice fitteds out there, though, too... unfortunately for my bank account I own a number of them.

While I'm certainly happy to hear that you're loving your cpf's even more, I'd be curious to hear what fitted you ended up with, and the age and condition of them. Hemp honestly does break in, and gets softer and more absorbent with repeated washings, and it takes several washings to get brand new hemp broken in. Then, you need to factor in how many layers of are in the body and in the soaker and if other materials are/were used. Although I'd agree that a trifolded pf can be seemingly more absorbent than a fitted, I'd be hard pressed in my own experience to say that my cpf's are more absorbent than my Liz's hemp fitteds, kwim? I'm not trying to be snotty or anything, I really just want to help you out, b/c hemp is wonderful in diapers.

leelee, I'm right there with you. I also recently ventured into fitteds, and have been pretty disappointed with their absorbancy. They get SOAKED when my CPFs would barely feel damp! And this was a used Growing Greens hemp fitted, so I'm sure it had been broken in well. It was scratchy too .

Although I'm really bummed to say that I the fit of my SOS. I got one used off the TP and it fits so great! Definitely not the most absorbant thing, but the fit is awesome! Too bad I couldn't have fallen in love with a cheaper, more accessible fitted.

I bought some Jo-Bo's and Liz's Cloth diaps, both are well broken in. It seems like it just soaks right thru the diap and the diap is completly wet. My son is a light wetter and I dont normally put a cover on at home so I am aware of when he goes. The prefolds just seem to hold it in better. When my son wets in the fitted I cant hold him close without getting soaked myself. This does not happen in the prefolds.

I would like to think I just got bunk diapers. Maybe this is not normal.: I like the idea of hemp and thought about getting a hemp prefold but I heard that you can not snappi them.

I am open to sugestions.

I'm a huge ucpf fan myself. I'm going to try some hemp fitteds once ds outgrows his kissaluvs 0's, but I plan to use mostly ucpf's still. IMO they give a much better fit and they're too cute!

Dont worry, I dont get on with fitteds either. Why stress over it, just stick with what you like!

I find fitteds get soaked where a trifolded prefold doesnt. Im sure its all in my mind though, because I also love AIO's. Now Im sure they're just as soaked, but I just cant notice it because of the waterproof outer. I cannot stand though, opening up a cover to find a drenched fitted underneath, so I steer clear of them.

I really like the absorbency to only be between the baby's legs. I dont like it when the wetness travels around the back and hips which it does do with a fitted, even though I dont leave them on for four hours at a time! So I like trifolded prefolds, pocket nappies and AIO's with centre soakers.

I also find fitteds too bulky and I dont like paying the prices charged for them when I also have to buy a cover. But I'll happily pay for a pocket and then buy a separate insert! Crazy, I know.
