So...the DoD and Bush Adminstration loves and supports the military, do they?

Now, granted, this is Drudge. So I'm hoping there is a slight exaggeration here. However, knowing how frikkin' cheap the military is about their people, it would not completely suprise me.

The opening part of the article:
....
FORT STEWART, Ga., Oct. 17 (UPI) -- Hundreds of sick and wounded U.S. soldiers including many who served in the Iraq war are languishing in hot cement barracks here while they wait -- sometimes for months -- to see doctors.

The National Guard and Army Reserve soldiers' living conditions are so substandard, and the medical care so poor, that many of them believe the Army is trying push them out with reduced benefits for their ailments. One document shown to UPI states that no more doctor appointments are available from Oct. 14 through Nov. 11 -- Veterans Day.
....

Interestingly, it sounds like an awful lot of these folks are suffering from reactions/effects of the anthrax vaccine. Which means the military knew damn well that they'd have people have problems like this--because it happens all the time to active duty military too.

Are they TRYING to bring back the draft? Because who's going to sign up for the reserves or the guard, when they get the shit end of the stick coming AND going?

I'm not surprised. When DH was re-activated this year he developed a hernia. He tried to get it looked at. They told him they could see him in about 6 weeks. He was in a lot of pain. Fortunately we had been paying to keep our civilian insurance. He had surgery to repair the hernia less than a week later at a local hospital. We were lucky we didn't have to wait on the military, but even if you keep up your payments your civilian insurance may not cover injuries or illness directly related to military service.
