Hey mamas! Just wanted to check in with this quick question.

In the last couple of days a couple of times I've seen "stars"...actually they look more like wiggly-squiggly fireworks to me....of light flittering through the air. Both times that it's happened I've gone outside. Taken a few big deep breaths and waited for it to pass.

I remember the same thing happening once or twice at the end of my pregnancy with DD and I didn't do anything about and all was well...but I'm just kind of curious what's going on (and want to make sure it's not anything that I *should* be worried about).

Oh and I don't really feel dizzy when it's happening but I wasn't sure what the heck to title this thread so people would realize that I'm not talking about Hollywood stars!

Thanks!

I get the same thing and my nosebleeds have increased also. I think its our bodies changing and gearing up for the birth. I just close my eyes and take a drink of water. I clear my mind. Hope you feel better though.

Thanks.

I'm actually feeling totally fine. And I haven't really been concerned about it but just had a little nagging feeling in the back of my mind that I should just check to make sure this isn't an early symptom of something "bad", ya know?

It could have something to do with your blood pressure. You might try to check your bp if it's ever convenient. Like if that happens while you're in a store with a bp machine, try it. I would recommend drinking more water. Like maybe add a liter to your day. And sit or lay down and take deep breaths when it happens. Also, talk to your midwife if you have one. You're so close to the end that it shouldn't be a huge issue, but you wanna know if your bp is getting up there. Also, pay attention to what else is going on when this happens. Are you sitting or squatting and get up too fast? Do you have a headache, even a tiny one? Do you have any stomach pain at all?

That happened with me too- there was actually a couple of times when it was like there were little glowing lights all over the room- falling like it was snowing. Weirded me out because i could totally focus on them and look around the room (it didn't pass as quickly as you would think it would/usually did). As weird as it was, it never cocerned me. However, at the end of my pg'cy i did have slightly high BP levels- so who knows maybe that was a spike of high BP then too?

Thanks for the replies. Didn't have any starry episodes today. My BP tends to run on the low-normal side (I think Monday when I was there they said it was 102/64?).

Yesterday when it happened I had been sitting/laying in a chair....reached down to pick something up off the floor...and then stood up. Probably just too much movement for my blood to keep up with!

I called my MW's office today. It was her day off so I just talked to the nurse. She didn't seem concerned at all. Said if it increases to call back but that it definitely wasn't on any kind of watch list of symptoms.

I have my MW's home and cell #s but I don't want to bother her at home when it's not an emergency. So...I'll mention it to her next week, and just be careful about standing up a little more slowly.

Oh and JoyofBirth thanks for the reminder about drinking more water!!
