Do all carseats expire in 6 years, or is there a variance from brand to brand or model to model?

Most are 6. There are a few exceptions, for example the radian is 8.

Yep, most are six, some are 8 (Radian, some Cosco 3-in-1 seats) and some are 5 (Peg Perego).

i think the recaros are 7 years as well. i might be totally mixed up and they are 5 years....
