I had a FIT last week because the dentist put a silver amalgam in my 3 and a half year old. He put 3 porcelin fillings in the front and then the amalgam in the molar. I wasn't in the room, my dh was but he forgot that I had specified only white or porcelin fillings. I had verbally requested this at the exam prior to the actual fillings but it wasn't noted. I guess I'll call the office tomorrow but if there are any dentists or hygienists out there, I'd appreciate some input. The dentist said he would change the filling to porcelin but I am not sure I want to put my sweetie through another episode in the dentist chair.

But please go ahead and have this filling taken out. And make sure that the dentist takes enough precaution in the process of removing the filing. Usually should be done with a dam. A very good book to read about his topic "Uninformend Consent-- The hidden danger in dental care" by Hal Huggins , also "Whole-Body Dentistry" by Mark A. Brainer DDS & Robert C.
