I bought ds an amber teething necklace. I'm still pretty skeptical but hey, even if it doesn't help it's cute!

So... did you find it helped your dc through teething?

I was just going to post the same question I was also wondering if you get a lot of concerned folks worried about it around your dc's neck. I know I probably would have thought along those lines before I found out about them. Are there braclets that would have the same effect?

Some women on here post that they put it around their child's ankle...

I'd like the link to the amber necklace that was once posted that had smooth stones and a magnetic clasp...

They are designed to break if there is too much pressure on them and I just tell people that if they seem concerned, but it's not really up to 'them' to judge what I am doing with my child, shouldn't it be obvious that I don't want to harm my child?
anyway, dd has been wearing hers around her neck for a couple months. I try to discourage her biting on it, but it happens. I think it has helped in a subtle way and even if it isn't helping, yes they are wicked cute! especially when it's all she's got on!

Ds doesn't even know it's there! The beads are individually knotted for safety.

I'd like to see this one, too. Anyone have the link? I was thinking of getting the one from Nova Naturals...

My dd has the one from Nova Naturals. It's super cute but I can't really vouch for it's effectiveness. I take it off when she sleeps.

I think it helps a little. And it's really cute! I take it off when he goes in water (bath or pool) but other than that it's on 24/7. He needs all the help he can get with these $#&@ing molars!

They just wear them, not chew on them. The oils from the amber are supposed to absorb into their skin.

I made one for my ds. He's been wearing it for a few weeks so far. No teeth yet, so I don't know. His isn't as long as the ones from the co-op. So after I put it on him, he totally forgets about it. I leave it on him 24/7. Except for bath time.

The main reason I decided to try it is I know a couple mommas who said they worked wonders for them. Ds with his necklace on. We do get lots of compliments on it too.

We had one and put it on ds for about 2 months and then we lost it. It took me about a week to get a new one and I could tell a huge difference. He was pretty miserable without it. Even my mil, who was pretty skeptical, said, please get him another necklace!

Ds doesn't notice his, but I noticed that his whining during teething cut down from about 6 hrs a day to more like 2 or 3. I have gotten alot of good feedback about them from other mothers as well. Besides, they're cute if nothing else. You can find them easily if you google "amber teething necklace".

Do they only help teething pain or other pain too?

I just got one for my daughter to help with her molars. I don't know if it's really helping, but it's definitely not having a negative effect. Maybe I'm projecting, but it seems like her teeth aren't bothering her as much since she's been wearing it, even though she has two molars coming through right now. She likes it, other babies/toddlers are attracted to it, and it looks nice. We got ours from The Green Kangaroo for $12. They have a lot of nice styles and colors and several lengths to choose from. (I am not affiliated with the site in any way, just had a good experience buying from them.)

The stones are supposed to release a natural analgesic into the skin. I don't see why it would be particular to teething pain. I suspect it would ease other pains as well.

I love the one I got for Dd from Nova Naturals. She wears it 23.5/7 (we take it off for baths . I swear it makes a difference!

DS has worn one since he was 3 months old...he's now 7 mos...can't vouch for its effectiveness though - he has yet to cut his first tooth...everyone loves it though...he often gets mistaken for a girl.

when people ask me what it's for, i explain it to them and i think they are then fully convinced that we are hippies and into voo-doo magic..oh well...LOL!
