period cramps? For the past 2 wks I feel like I have period cramps. They only come around like once or twice a day but the past 2 days I've felt them in the mornings for a at least an hour each time. It sucks. It's from my lower back around to my lower belly, right above my pevis. It also makes my legs a little achy.

Does this sound like braxton hicks? I totally forgot what they're like since I had my dd. I talk to a friend and she said yes but what do you mamas think?

by the way, i started my 31st week yesterday.

My BH didn't feel like cramps- they were more like a tightening, they almost always (for me) start with taking my breath away, and I am very aware of my pulse. Strange, but I have heard others talk about the "taking your breath away" thing.

I have once in awhile felt the cramp-like feelings (especially lately, I am 39+ weeks) but in my experience that feeling is different than a BH.

Sorry I'm not of more help!

Sounds exactly like ligament stetching to me. It can be very painful, or just feel like dull achy menstrual cramps. I've had it so bad before I cried for a good 15 minutes!

BHs just feel like tightening and pulling down, or a curling up feeling under your skin. It tightens lasts for a minute or less, and goes away. Pain from a contraction wouldn't be persistent, you would only feel it intensly at the peak of the tightening.

Hope this helps!

they don't sound like mine... but BH could be different in dif bodies, I would think. Mine felt like a rock hard tightening of my whole belly when I was that far along. This pregnancy I've already felt them!! and they mostly just feel like I did too many sit-ups, but only on my lower abs! I take them as a sign that I need to rest and drink some water.

EcoMama- I am right where you are (due 5/14) and had some of those same cramps the other night... low, dull achey feeling like early contractions. I talked to my midwife about it tonight. She said they can be caused by a day off too much activity, and also dehydration. She suggested drinking a huge glass of water (like more than 8 oz.) and then taking a rest and seeing what happens. She also said that these types of ctx. are more noticeable with subsequent babies and also if you are magnesium deficient, since magnesium is a nutrient that helps to contract muscles, whereas calcium relaxes them.

overall, not to worry but if they become regular and intensify then you probably want to talk to your care provider. but, try the rest and water thing.

oh, also mentioned that after sex this can happen b/c of prostaglandins in semen.

yeah, i'm on magnesium too and i think i drink a ton of water... i think the main thing is if they are regular or not, if they go away in response to change in activity/position, etc...
