Do fireflys hold up better than Elbees?

After reading Jens post about her Elbee getting a hole, I am wondering if I should bother when my # comes up...? Maybe I'll get fireflys?

fireflys are the bulk of my stash, and aside from some fading, they have held up wonderfully, no holes at all
Shandelle,

Did you get the raspberry ff in the mail yet? How does it fit? I don't have a chance with Elbees, so I think I'll stick with the FFs...

I don't know about Elbees but I will tell you our FF's take a real beating. We have 25 and they are all washed everyother day and have been for a couple months now. They still look fantastic. A little color fading is about it.

We
our FF's. But I still want to try an Elbee. May change my mind by the time my number comes up who knows.

I have one of each.

While the firefly doesn't get binding holes (bc there is no binding), I've noticed that the edges are quite "crispy". I'm not sure why - maybe it's harder to clean that area b/c the foldout soaker design is sewn along it - lots of nooks and crannies to hose out with the minishower. The edges of the diaper feel quite hard and crunchy, and yes it has faded out (I've had this one for about 6 months now).

Still, the fit is fabulous. I've decided, however, that I don't like the butterfly soaker design: which was WONDERFUL before DD got sticky peanut-butter poops, now it's just too much fabric to deal with in the toilet while hosing off with the minishower. I've switched to lay-in or snap-in style doublers from now on for that reason (except for small sizes when baby won't be eating solids).

I think both diapers are holding up reasonably well, both have their issues, different but equal.

Yes! It fits, and I LOVE it! I posted pics in another thread.
Thank you!!!

We have LOTS of Fireflies and they are in perfect condition, even though I got them all used and we've been using them a lot. I got a gently used elbee that has a few holes...

OUr fireflies have held up wonderfully. I bought most of them used and have yet to see any holes. Now like Jen I bought my Elbees new and have used them for 2-3 months and am now starting to see holes
. It just irks me to spend that much money only to have them be holey in just a few short months.

I know I am thinking of selling my large elbees most unused (because he doesn't fit them yet) to buy fireflies. That way I can get my money out of them before they are all holey.

HTH, I guess it was more of a rant on my part

the trick i have found with the fireflys is to use a fleece topped liner of some kind. this works really well to keep the poop out of the "wings". i think i might have to reconsider too. all of my fuz fitteds have holes, and i don't know if i want an entire medium stash of dipes that are known for their holes LOL, ie elbee, and fuz. i LOVE my fireflys
but i love the elbees and fuz fitteds too.

oy vey, what to do ? i've got time though. bella is still in smalls and my elbee number won't be up for like a biggillion months so................ i guess i'll just sit and stew over it for now.

WOW - do you guys realize that a thread like this could really cause an Elbee slump? Not that I think only people who buy these dipes are on MDC, but you have to admit, a few good reviews of a good dipe and WHAM!!! the wahm can't keep up.
I'm rethinking my order also....say it ain't so.
I just wanted to add that I know the diapers are made differently, but for diapers roughly the same price (exactly?), I like my un-holey ones. Maybe I'm afraid of hurting my elbee, and that's why I don't use it as often as all my others, lol.

Oh, I wish you all hadn't started this thread! I'm totally on the wagon right now, but I'm still allowed to buy my elbees when my number come up, because it's a prior committment (that's my story and I'm sticking with it
).

I had some fireflies lined up, but had to turn them down when I was forced onto the wagon. Now you're all making me regret it
. I can't have fireflies! I can only have elbees! And I want fireflies now! (Well, wanted them before too, but now I really really want them
).

Argh.

These are the only two fitted diapers that we use now and I prefer the el bee dipes. The serged edges of the firefly dipes are a bit scratchy on Ben's chubby thighs, but the el bee bindings are always nice and soft. I've had my hemp knit terry el bees for several months now and no holes in any of the bindings. I really like the HKT fabric - it is so stretchy and doesn't get stiff. The first el bee diaper that I ever had was made of thicker hemp and was stiffer and it did eventually get binding holes and I wonder if it was because of the stiffer fabric? In any case, Laura told me that she is now double binding where the elastic ends inside the binding - that's where most of the binding holes were forming from what she saw.

I also find my el bees are a bit trimmer, more absorbant and it is much easier to clean poop off of them because they don't have serged edges or the fold over wing design. I do like the dyed colors on my fireflies, though, and think they are a great diaper as well!

Oh I still LOVE my elbee, I just need my dipes to last through at least 2 kiddos. I just got the raspberry ff today, so I had no idea what to expect wear-wise...ya know?
I doubt there will ever be an elbee slump...but I sure would hate to be the one who caused it.

Another poster mentioned this, but I always use a fleece liner in my Fireflies. I traced a Sugarpea Size 1 soaker for my fleece liners (too anal to just cut random rectangles!
) and it fits perfectly inside medium FFs.

I
the Fireflies. The colors are so gorgeous! But I can't compare to an Elbee...

I love FF's for my DD, they fit her perfectly! But my poor DS, his legs are just too skinny and they don't have a good fit. Now his El Bee w/ sidewalls fits like a glove!
