I've noticed a couple times that my 3 week old DD has had a little eye goopy thing on her eyeball. I'm not talking like infected weird eye goo.....just like the normal little snotty "eye boogers" that collect in the corners of her eyes sometimes, only it's on her actual eyeball.

Do I need to get those things off of her eyeball when I notice them, or do you think it's better to just leave them be? (not that I would even know a safe way to get it off of her eyeball : )

ds had that too-- they eventually disappear (or, i think work their way to the corner where i then fished them out). didn't seem to bother him so i left it be
No, not from inside the eye, but when it gets to the corner, yes. Monkey mom, . I do pick the boogers, though, it's so gross when they're just WAITING there at the edge. But not the cradle cap- I think it might make it much worse.

I wipe off the eye goo and pick off the boogers I don't like having goo in my eye, why would she?

As for cradle cap, don't know about using your fingernails, but rubbing a baby's scalp with oil to loosen the flakes, then removing them with a soft toothbrush is a safe and recommended method.

Thanks, mommas! I think I knew the answer to this, 'cause yeah....it eventually just worked its way to the corner of her eye and then I wiped it off.....but the monkey-mom in me wants to get it out when I first see it. ....it takes every ounce of self-control I have not to pick at her baby acne : ....but I know that would be bad, so I don't touch it.

I don't know any non-monkey mamas I think that urge multiplies after you give birth!

Can I just say, I have been seriously strengthening my daughter's face-protection skills by trying too often to get those nose boogers that are ALMOST out? God those bug me. But she's hilariously effective at keeping my hands out of her nose. I mean at three months I found myself nearly pinning her down (when, of course, I realized how far it had gotten and stopped immediately) trying to get one. : Why is that?

Now I really wait until they are dangling there. She just hates it when I touch her nose for some reason.

Me too. I tried everything else, picking it off works the best.
