When my 4 month old DS is in a bulky diaper, people think he's a girl. I assume it's because the diaper looks like a diaper cover/bloomers. I love Little Lambs diapers, but I have to buy all "manly" prints or people keep calling DS "she". They don't even look that ruffly once they are stretched across his thunder thighs. It doesn't bother me all too much right now, but when he's 2, he'll know what they are saying. I've even had someone think he was a girl in the froggy print bummis cover. Is this just what it is going to be like until he's no longer in diapers? Or should I get a shirt for him that says, "I'm not a girl"? :LOL

Every time I am out with my DS in his wool everyone says oh what a cute lil girl and look at her shorts. I don't care how manly i have them made he is always refered to as a girl. I just reply Yes He loves his wool shorts. then i usally end up explaining about wool and CDing.

Can't say I've ever had that happen ... but we do use really trim diapers. :LOL

I think it's pretty common for babies to be called the wrong gender, just because when they are little is *is* hard to tell sometimes!

I can see where a diaper might look like bloomers (kind of) but I'm pretty sure by the time your son is 2, he wont look or act very girlish ...so it probably wont matter what diaper he's wearing kwim?

People used to *always* think my DS was a girl. When he was littler even when he was head to toe in baby blue and I had already said his name was Benjamin I have had people refer to him as she/her. I just tell myself that this is because he is such a pretty baby! :LOL

Now he is 19mo and the confusion does happen less. When we are out and about he often wears a FB or a prefold or fitted with a PUL wrap, which are all pretty trim. It's mostly just other CD'ers who can spot the diaper butt and come up and say excitedly, do you use cloth diapers!? People are sometimes thrown by wool though. What is that he is wearing????

Alek is wearing his purple tye dye shirt and purple/lime tye dye pants out today and someone said to me that she was very cute. :LOL

I told the lady that purple is for boys too and so are all colors. She then looked stupid in the face. Tee hee. :LOL

People think ds is a girl anyway:LOL Especially in knit hats I have made him, or my (gasp) girly slings! He can't help it- he has the most gorgeous, gigantic blue eyes you ever saw...
But, people used to think dd was a boy

I have had at least two women I know say the excact same thing:"Wow, she's got a butt on her":LOL To which i respond-"Oh yeah? You should see her without her diaper! It's all diaper I swear!"
I admit she is shapely, but also pretty slender. It really is all diaper.
