I got my friend with the preemie some Snappis and they came in the mail yesterday -- it is the first time I have ever seen one since I never felt the prefold love.

So my question is will the snappi damage certain fabrics? I made her some hemp fleece contours with a layer of flannel print on the outter layer. So when she puts the diaper on the baby the flannel would have to be snappied -- will that hurt it?

Has anyone had these issues?

Of course with a Prorap over the contour it doesnt need to be snappied but the monkey print is so cute she just wants to use it with a wool liner inside and no cover.

Any help?

You know, this is one of my snappi fears (among others... including snappis stuck in my fingers or head or arms or other body parts).

I'm interested to hear the responses.

I can't imagine it is "gentle" to the fabric.... I mean, it sticks prongs into it!!

You can't use a snappi on flannel. It won't grip the material. You need something with a looser weave (birdseye, terry, etc.) . I haven't noticed an damage to my pf's, though.

Flannel is unsnappiable I'm afraid ...needs to be a knit outer (loops or not ...fleeces don't works so well either) ... the hooks just don't dig into flannel very well ... and if you CAN actually work the hooks into the fabric it probably will tear ...wovens don't like to be stretched like that.

Many of my dd's fitted diapers are snappiable and so far (after 1 year of use) NO damage ... they're made with hemp french terry smooth side out.

I thought they work on hemp fleece. We use them on hemp terry and love it but I must say I have no personal experience with hemp fleece other than what I have heard.

I think it also depends on how much it pulls on the fabric. If I have to streeeetch the snappi to fit my DS then I notice it snags a little. But no problem with my dd. I think if I used the snappi in the EXACT same spot all the time, that it would make holes. I am LOVING the idea of using two snappis on my DS

(ditto on the wont work with flannel)
