Do That Many Babies Go Without Covers???

I have to ask - - there is such a selection of GORGEOUS cloth dipes out there, from dyed flats/prefolds, to OV fitteds, prints, embroidered fitteds, solid colored sherpas, etc., etc., etc.!

WHY are they made this way? I mean they are GORGEOUS!
I've bought several of the above, myself. Why are they made?? I mean, no one in their right mind would want to cover these dipes up, so the only conclusion I can come to is there are a lot of babies out there running around with no cover. Am I correct in this assumption?

For myself, I have covers for when I need them, but for the pretty dipes, I was planning on skipping covers altogether, like whenever we're at home - - I just can't bear to cover them!

Thoughts??

Only my 15 y/o brother takes the time to put covers on my DS... he's half naked at home about 99% of the time

Yup, we go coverless a lot. At home and especially when we are playing in the yard.
myu dd only wears a cover when we leave the house.. even then its usually a pretty AIO instead
I think it makes diapering fun for the parents as well, to see pretty diapers

we use covers most of the time but then our dipes are pretty basic, the fanciest we've got are some of the kissaluv coutours in colors and some tye-dyed pre-folds

i did have some pics done in just a dipe when ds was 2 mos old and he was wearing the natural kissaluv fitted in that

such a cute wee bum!

We do covers out and about (mostly wool) and quite alot at home. I ordered a Snap-eze see through cover for B the other day, so I could show off his pretty flats and fitteds this summer while we're out without getting peed on, lol.
Yep - we go coverless a fair bit, when the weather allows.

It means I can change at the first wee, and she spends much longer dry.

Yep, me too! I like being able to change Dace as soon as she is wet, so at home, she is coverless most of the time!
we also go coverless a lot when at home, one less step

We go coverless at home almost 100% of the time. Out and about in the winter, we do covers and pants or longies. In summer, though, we either do soakers, soaker shorts, some cover or AIO and shorts, or just a fitted with no cover.

We EC and change at the first pee, too, so it's no big deal.
I have no idea where you girls live but there is no way I can have my kids coverless around the house. Most of the year we have an indoor temperature of around 21 degrees celcius. To have kids run around half naked in that temp would not be very wise.. So I have to cover up the cloth all the time. Nice to have some beautiful longies for the same purpose

But I still enjoy a beautiful diaper. I see them at every diaperchange and the beautiful gorgeous nappies help make diapering a pleasure, not a duty.
Probably the main reason I got so addicted to cloth in the first place..

We could go coverless in the summer...but the rest of the year the babe needs clothes on or else little legs feel like ice cubes. Which explains my wool addiction... I LOVE longies!
I always wonder about this. I just like looking at the cute diapers when I change her myself but I would love to have her go coverless. I think even with one pee we would be swimming around here though.

I get such a kick out of great looking dipes and confess that I pack the cutest ones for more 'public' diaper changes--i probably put more thought into coordinating little one's diapers than his clothes!

Maybe you should try out BabyLegs if you want to do coverless more often?? The Mister is hot-blooded though
and doesn't get bothered running around half-naked... I still might try them out, they look cool!

Try using pockets if you don't want to go coverless, they make some really cute pockets out there and those don't need a cover :)
A lot of babies do go coverless but it's also the same reason you buy cute undies. Do you walk around in theunderwear sans clothing all day? No, probably not but it makes you feel good knowing you are wearing sexy underwear underneath your cloth. Same reason I buy cute diapers for Sara, because it makes me feel good to change her into cute diapers even if we have to put on a cover or shorts. PLUS it makes public diaper changes more fun because people STARE at her diaper and you can just see the wheels turning in their minds!
