I carry really really low. With my twins I carried low and with this singleton I'm very low. Everyone says it looks like I'm due any day, but I am 34 weeks tomorrow. I need 3 more weeks at least!
Anyway, I am so low that when the waist band of my maternity pants cuts into my waist when I'm sitting I'll start to contract. I'm guessing this is more of 'irritable uterus' vs 'contractions'. With my twins I ended up cutting my waistbands a whole bunch to avoid this. This time, I'm opting for comfy sweatpants. I'm generally a small person so I don't need large pants, but the waistbands are too small for my low baby.
Am I the only one with this? My Dr said she's never heard of this?

I don't know the answer really, but my midwife tried gently massaging my belly to see if it could make me have a braxton hick contraction. (I wasn't sure if I had been having them.) It didn't work but she says it often does. Seems like your pants are doing the same kind of thing?

I don't know if this is your style, but maybe a few empire waist dresses could be in your future? GL

This totally happens to me, and has been happening since very early on... I wish I could wear sweats all the time... or that it would get warm enough to switch to leggings and dresses.

I really hate full-panel pants, but they're just all that's comfortable at this point.

Yep. Just sitting down sometimes makes my underwear/pants dig uncomfortably into my waist. I'm carrying pretty low too, I think (I don't have anything to compare to!), and I was thinking in the car tonight that I might have to switch to dresses for the last few weeks...

Yes. When I'm at home especially at the end of the day I have to go pantsless because even the sweatpants dig into my belly. I don't own a pair of over the belly pants. The other day I was wondering if my maternity pants were making it hard for the baby to descend since they were so tight under my belly!! Haha!

I have stopped wearing pants with tighter waistbands because of this. I have noticed the same thing, especially when I am sitting a certain way or have been wearing them for a long time. So I've been reduced to wearing these sweatpant type old navy pants with really loose waists. Yesterday for Easter I "dressed up" by wearing some yoga pants underneath a maternity dress, and that did it for me. I can't stand anything on my belly these days, so over the belly pants are out. I'd be happy if I could go around with nothing on my belly or legs at all, but unfortunately we still need a curtain for our back window

Oh my god, I've been thinking that WITHOUT the "haha" at the end...

It suddenly occurs to me-- maybe she hasn't dropped because of my pants!!!

I have no idea if this is likely, or completely ridiculous.

I drive a 5 spd so sometimes I have to pick both feet up at the same time (to break and clutch) and I feel like my pants are going to slice through me. They aren't tight, but I think the baby doesn't like having pants smooching his face.

I've thought about moving into dresses (
) but I really hate dresses and my ankles are the size of tree trunks.

This happens to me with each pregnancy (7) so far. Anything on my belly will cause a contraction. Sometimes a very mild contraction and sometimes strong ones. If I wear the wrong kind of pants I will contract non-stop until I take them off.

So it's yoga pants for me :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I get them driving too. One time it was so bad on a long trip that I had to pull my pants down under my hips so the BH would stop. Had to quick pull them up before hopping out though! lol

Yes! I've been contracting for 7 weeks now and I can't wear any of my low-rise maternity pants because they all dig into my belly and cause contractions. The only pants I've been wearing out of the house are my full belly panel jeans (Secret Fit from Motherhood) that don't press on my belly at all. When I'm at home I just wear my non-maternity drawstring fleece pants-- soooo comfy!
