Huh? Do we? Do we? Do we? I know all you lucky ladies are expected home today, so give us the juicy details so we can swoon with jealousy!

It was awesome!!!

There were so many amazing sessions. Dr. Jack Newman was great and I really learned a lot. I was most impressed with Don Buckley, (one of the LLLI Board of Directors) and his wife Susan. I wish I could have attended more of their sessions! Susan Buckley presented a session on Enviromental Contaminates in Breastmilk that was very enlightening. She is a professor of biology and was very thorough

I had a great time too. The drive there and back was another story : It should have taken us about 3 1/2 hours and it took us 4 1/2. going up we had to stop 5 times and I also got a ticket : But to make it all better I won an Ergo with backpack and front pack for $82!!!!!

Let me check into where and when that will be available. It may not be available for all sessions, but LLLI does have a lending library full of these types of things.

I also had a great time. My only regret is not being able to attend more sessions - can't be in two places at the same time.

We were busy the whole time! Dh and the kids went golfing, fishing kite flying...I attended seminar after seminar, and the one I taught went pretty well, too, if I DO say so myself...not as "power point-y" as some of the others, but the mamas in our group needed more indivualized attention, anyway!

One thing I realized is that WE NEED LOBBYISTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! The hospitals have them, the formula companies have them, nobody is lobbying for the good and the health of the mamas and babies, here.

Susan Buckly actually kind of turned me off. I was talking to a group of people about the fact that we need lobbyists, and she basically said that TEN YEARS ago, somebody went to the board with that suggestion and that it was turned down, so, even though the board has turned over, and because it's TOO MUCH WORK to get the funding, they won't try again any time soon. That makes me really sad. I guess it's up to the peons in the grassroots to get it started, and ask forgiveness rather than permission!

ANYBODY KNOW SOME GRANT WRITERS?! We need to come up with funding to lobby for breastfeeding promotion and rights in our governments...state AND federal! The target could be the at risk groups (like WIC mamas!). There was a great session about supporting them, and the funding would go right along with that. The studies talked about showed that it was actually CHEAPER for the government to pay to provide ONE ON ONE PEER BREASTFEEDING COUNSELING than it is to provide formula for the babies. How can we leave that information be? *SIGH*

Anyway, as you can see, I came back fired up...
